say what you might about the man's intelligence but he DOES have his degree in monty-ology. Monty is, in fact, highly resistant to replacing him

Started rereading Nevermore today! Excited to see what I notice a second time through!
NEVERMORE CHARACTER ANALYTICS (by number of appearances) (as of episode 161)
there are a lot of notes for understanding how i took these measurements at the end of the post--relevant to read, I think, because some of my policies are pretty arbitrary--but the most important thing to keep in mind is that this is per-episode, not within-episode. So there is no differentiation provided between a character who speaks in 1 panel and a character who speaks in 10 panels. A more accurate measurement would go per-panel, but I love myself too much to deal with all that. Also, I am lazy, so no fancy infographics, you get screenshots of my formatted data from Google sheets. Anyways without further ado;
Full Series (1-161)
Intro+Labyrinth Arc (1-25)
Forming Alliances+Mystery Manor Arc (26-64)
Cask of Amontillado Arc+End of S1 (65-108)
Wild Hunt Arc (109-154)
Data Notes
• "Speaking appearance" applies to speech, but also other verbal sound effects like crying, gasping, or laughing even if they do not speak any actual words during the episode (ie; Annabel crying in the closet at the end of episode 101 is counted as speaking). It counts proper flashbacks, but does not count disembodied quotations.
• "Unspeaking" means they are visually present in the episode, but do none of the above. This includes flashbacks where the character is fully illustrated (ie; the panel with Duke and Pluto in ep 127) and background cameos (Duke and Morella in ep 3)
• "Mentioned" means the character is specifically mentioned by name, obviously alluded to (ie; all those times Lenore panics about Annabel during the wild hunt arc), appears in a more general flashback where they are not fully illustrated (ie; Eulalie Duke and Pluto being only in silhouette during the misfits blood pact flashback in ep 133), or is quoted in a disembodied way (Montresor's deal in ep 125)
• The order of priority: speaking>unspeaking>mentioned
• When Will is transformed into another character, I count it as a Will appearance and a [character] mention
• when Annabel hallucinates Lenore i count it as a Lenore unspeaking appearance, because she is illustrated but her words are entirely Annabel's
• Also I am very fallible there's a chance I made some errors in either counting or following my own rules, but I'm 100% sure the margin of error is no more than like 2 or 3 per character, not enough to change overall trends
(finally, hi to the people who said they'd be interested in this! @straightasaaro @gelatinefishy @yawnwhatyadoing @crows-keep @cherrybearryy )
montresor spends the series systemically making PERSONAL enemies of every major character except william one by one and it just makes me laugh
Morella: the "get on your knees" incident
Lenore: immediately when they first met
Annabel: the "let's kill lenore" incident
Berenice and Eulalie: the "egregious misogyny in the manor dimension" incident
Duke: the "trapping duke in a wall to die" incident
Pluto: the "punching pluto in the eye for interrupting his hookup with ada" incident
Prospero: every time they've ever spoken but especially the "being annoying as fuck after breaking his leg" incident
Ada: the "being rude to her as she was falling into a coma" incident
Those deleted ep 85 willtresor scenes. any other patreon members available to kill themselves over them with me
Soooo desperate for more of Eulalie and Duke's dynamic because I get the vibe he kind of finds her annoying despite their great chemistry
They had to put ada in a coma because given enough time her Kinsey 5 swag would have made lennabel open up their marriage
Jesus christ these guys fucking suck. FIRST LINES IN THE WHOLE COMIC your gay asses are already lying through your teeth
