So I've been wanting to know what it is your all studying at uni? Do you all live in a flat together? And what are your plans for Winter break?
Hello! Wow, yes, it’s been a while and much has happened!
I’ve personally moved in with my boyfriend Magnus this year, so I commute to uni, but the others are all living in student halls since Freshers get priority for that sort of accommodation. Jace and Jonathan are actually roommates while Jordan and Sebastian live in the dorms in a slightly different campus because they’re humanities students, but they’re only a mile or so apart. It took some convincing for Sebastian’s aunt to let him live away from home, but she accepted only once she was assured he’d be in the same halls as Jordan. I’m not sure if that made him feel any better about it haha…
I’m studying Law, Jonathan’s studying Biology, Jace is doing Psychology, Sebastian is a Geography student and Jordan is an historian. A couple of us did consider music, but we figured having to study it as an obligation rather than for fun would probably destroy our love for it :P
On the music front, Mallard Massacre is still going strong and we have band practice every weekend. We alternate between me going up to join the boys and them coming home, so they get to see their families every other weekend. Obviously that means Jace and Jordan get to see Clary and Maia once a fortnight too, though the girls sometimes venture up to campus to see them as well. It’s slightly more awkward with Clary though because Jace shares a room with her brother, so I think the general arrangement is that she gets Jace’s bed while he’s forced to camp out on the floor. Though, I often wonder whether Jonathan’s being there is the only reason why Valentine would permit her coming down in the first place. The two of them skype all the time anyway, so it’s hardly a long distance relationship.
As for the flat situation, as I said we’re all separate this year but we probably will be moving in together next year. By that time the girls will be at university too and I’m sure Clary and Maia will opt out of student housing in favour of living with their boyfriends, so with Magnus and I included, plus Simon and Isabelle if they’re feeling left out, it looks like we’ll be on the hunt for a six-bedroom house to rent out!
We are in the middle of our winter holidays now and that means we’ve got an entire month at home with our families, though it’ll be over soon enough. Most of us have been studying for the majority of it but we’ve been practicing too and have had a couple of impromptu local gigs. I know many of you were expecting to see us on tour with Mark Of Cain this summer, but unfortunately their new lead singer Raffe caught laryngitis just before it was set to begin, so they’ve postponed it till next year. We’re still definitely a support act though so we will be going out with them this summer, it just means we have even more time to practice now so there’s no excuse not to knock people’s socks off!
In the meantime, I’ve heard rumours afoot that the music society at our uni is organising a Battle Of The Bands contest next term, so perhaps we’ll sign up for that… ;)
