New Nephthys Archetype
Enlightened of Nephthys Level 2 WIND Spellcaster Effect Monster ATK 600 DEF 600 You can use each effect among the (1)st and (2)nd effects with this card’s name only once per turn. (1) You can target 1 Level 4 or lower “Nephthys” monster in your GY, except “Enlightened of Nephthys”; destroy 1 card in your hand, and if you do, Special Summon the targeted monster in Defense Position, but it has its effects negated. (2) Once per turn, during your next Standby Phase after this card was destroyed by a card effect and sent to your GY: You can Special Summon this card from your GY.
‘The Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys’ summoned itself back from the grave the turn after it was destroyed and all these new monsters have similar effects along with effects that can trigger that effect.
Enlightened is a ‘Monster Reborn’ that requires you to destroy a card in hand. And if it is destroyed by a card effect it summons itself on your next turn.
Prayer of Nephthys Level 2 WIND Spellcaster Effect Monster ATK 0 DEF 2000 You can use each effect among the (1)st and (2)nd effects with this card’s name only once per turn. (1) During your Main Phase: You can destroy 1 card in your hand, and if you do, add 1 “Nephthys” monster from your Deck to your hand, except “Prayer of Nephthys”. (2) Once per turn, during your next Standby Phase after this card was destroyed by a card effect and sent to your GY: You can add 1 “Nephthys” Spell/Trap Card from your Deck to your hand.
Prayer is a ‘Reinforcement of the Army’ if you destroy a card in your hand and searches any “Nephthys” spell/trap the turn after it’s destroyed.
Speaker of Nephthys Level 2 WIND Spellcaster Effect Monster ATK 300 DEF 1200 You can use each effect among the (1)st and (2)nd effects with this card’s name only once per turn. (1) You can target 1 “Nephthys” card in your GY, except “Speaker of Nephthys”; destroy 1 card in your hand, and if you do, add the targeted card to your hand. (2) Once per turn, during your next Standby Phase after this card was destroyed by a card effect and sent to your GY: You can add 1 “Nephthys” card from your GY to your hand, except “Speaker of Nephthys”.
Speaker returns a card from grave to hand at the cost of destroying something else. And if it’s destroyed it adds any “Nephthys” card to hand on the next turn.
The effect if it’s destroyed is far better than it’s on field effect so you’re never actually summoning this one.
Protector of Nephthys Level 2 WIND Spellcaster Effect Monster ATK 1400 DEF 200 You can use each effect among the (1)st and (2)nd effects with this card’s name only once per turn. (1) During your Main Phase: You can destroy 1 card in your hand, and if you do, Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower “Nephthys” monster from your hand, except “Protector of Nephthys”. (2) Once per turn, during your next Standby Phase after this card was destroyed by a card effect and sent to your GY: You can destroy 1 “Nephthys” monster in your Deck, except “Protector of Nephthys”.
Protector summons a monster from the hand at the cost of destroying something else. And you can destroy something from the deck on your next turn if it’s destroyed.
The problem with these cards is the same problem as the “Metaphys” archetype in that waiting another turn for half of your effects is way way too slow to compete anymore.
Avatar of Nephthys Level 2 WIND Spellcaster Ritual Effect Monster ATK 1200 DEF 1200 You can Ritual Summon this card with “Rebirth of Nephthys”. You can use each effect among the (1)st and (2)nd effects with this card’s name only once per turn. (1) If this card is Ritual Summoned: You can Special Summon 1 “Nephthys” monster from your Deck, also this card will be destroyed during this turn’s End Phase. (2) If this card is in your GY: You can destroy 1 “Nephthys” card in your hand, and if you do, Special Summon this card from the GY.
Ritual summoning is inherently a -2 in card advantage so any ritual deck needs 2 things in order to be vaguely playable. 1. It needs to be compatible with ‘Pre-Preparation of Rites’ and the ritual monsters or the ritual spell need to gain you significant advantage.
Summoning a monster from the deck makes summoning this card a +0 if you searched it with Pre-Prep which makes this deck at least playable.
Summoning Prayer to destroy something and get a search is really good and makes this deck quite consistent by ritual deck standards.
Destroying this card during the end phase isn’t bad because it’s attack value is incredibly low and it can summon itself back from the grave if was properly summoned.
Sacred Blue Phoenix of Nephthys Level 8 FIRE Winged Beast Ritual Effect Monster ATK 3000 DEF 1000 You can Ritual Summon this card with “Rebirth of Nephthys”. You can use each effect among the (1)st and (2)nd effects with this card’s name only once per turn. (1) During your Main Phase: You can activate this effect; destroy any number of “Nephthys” cards that are in your hand and/or face-up on your field, then destroy an equal number of monsters your opponent controls. (2) Once per turn, during your next Standby Phase after this card was destroyed (by battle or card effect) and sent to your GY: You can Special Summon this card from the GY.
You’ll have to ritual summon this card with the original ‘Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys’ as using 4 level 2 monsters is next to impossible.
An equal trade of destruction is nice especially as all your guys get effects off of destruction, but those effects take a turn to kick in and you use quite a lot of resources to wipe your opponent’s board this way.
Summoning itself back for free every turn means that you can destroy itself every turn to destroy at least 1 card your opponent controls, but that’s not the best use of this card.
This card is quite the nice recurring boss monster. It’s very useful for board control assuming you have the resources.
Nephthys the Palladium Deity Link 2 FIRE Winged Beast Effect Monster ATK 1200 Link Arrows: Bottom-Center, Bottom-Right Link Materials: 2 “Nephthys” monsters You can use the [(1)st] effect with this card’s name only once per turn. (1) During your Main Phase, if you control this Link Summoned card: You can activate 1 of these effects. • Add 1 Level 8 Winged Beast monster from your Deck to your hand, then you can add 1 Ritual Spell Card from your GY to your hand. • Destroy 1 “Nephthys” monster this card points to, and if you do, Special Summon from your GY 1 “Nephthys” monster whose original name is different from the destroyed monster’s, but the Summoned monster has its effects negated.
Using Avatar and the monster it summoned to make this is not bad at all as Avatar was going to be destroyed and can summon itself back, so as long as you have access to summoning Avatar i.e. Pre-Prep then you have easy access to this card.
Searching the original ‘Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys’ and adding back the ritual spell you used to summon Avatar makes summoning Sacred Blue Phoenix much more consistent.
The second effect is fine, but not as good as the first effect. Cycling your monsters is good and triggering the on-destruction effects means that you’ll gain a lot of advantage later, but negating the effect of the monster you summoned was unnecessary and would have made it easier to gain a lot of advantage turn 1 instead of turn 3.
Rebirth of Nephthys Ritual Spell Card This card can be used to Ritual Summon any “Nephthys” Ritual Monster. (1) Ritual Summon 1 “Nephthys” Ritual Monster from your hand, by Tributing monsters from your hand and/or field whose total Levels equal or exceed the Level of the monster you Ritual Summon, then, if you Tributed “Avatar of Nephthys” and/or “Sacred Blue Phoenix of Nephthys” for this Ritual Summon, you can destroy 1 card on the field.
Naming both of the ritual monsters in the card text makes this archetype Pre-Prep compatible which is all that was needed.
Destroying a card on the field is nice as you can trigger your own effects or destroy cards your opponent controls if you’re going second. This effect won’t trigger too often as you don’t want or need to tribute a ritual monster to summon another, but it’s nice that you get a bonus if you do.
This card does what it needed to do, nothing more.
Hope of Nephthys Normal Spell Card You can activate a card with this card’s name only once per turn. (1) Target 2 cards on the field (1 “Nephthys” card you control and 1 card your opponent controls); destroy them.
This card only works going second. It targets and destroys an opponent’s card which isn’t great, but it can trigger your own effects and might disrupt your opponent.
It’s not bad and triggering both effects of the “Nephthys” monsters is just extra value.
Awakening of Nephthys Continuous Trap Card You can use the (2)nd effect with this card’s name only once per turn. (1) “Nephthys” monsters you control gain 300 ATK. (2) If this face-up card in the Spell & Trap Zone is destroyed by a card effect and sent to the GY: You can Special Summon 1 “Nephthys” monster from your hand, Deck, or GY, but it is destroyed during the End Phase.
The first effect can make Sacred Blue Phoenix 3300 crossing the important 3000 threshold, but other than that the attack gain is meaningless
Your opponent is not going to destroy this card is they know what it does, so you’re going to have to destroy this yourself.
But when you do summoning a “Nephthys” from anywhere and destroying it in the end phase is really good as it can gain you loads of advantage depending on what you summon and when.
This card’s good just a bit slow.
And that’s the problem with the archetype as a whole, it’s a bit slow. Gaining advantage during the next standby phase is not good enough anymore. “Metaphys” have the same problem where the gain all their advantage way too late to matter at all.
Would have been good a few years ago, but today is just too slow.
