hello, new fase!!
Today is the first day of the rest of my life
I don’t mean that in a coach-y way, motivational 70s poster. No. Actually, the first day was not even today, but someday last week, I’m not sure when, when I started this new thing
Which is best described as purpose. It’s not that I’m waking up earlier, but that I have a reason to be up earlier. Not that I’m looking to make money, but that I know what I need this money for (I also know how to get it, which is not to say it’s going to be easy to, but it’s already a good bit of the battle)
What do I want? Money
Why do I want it? So I can check it off my worries list and dedicate my life to what I have always wanted to do: science
(I don’t I make money with science? Beacuse a lucrative scientific career is a unicorn that lives only in Europe and the US)
How am I to get money? Two-step plan:
1. Using the full array of my skills, and not trying to play the part of “a lawyer” and avoiding stuff that is not “lawyering” just for the sake of “being a lawyer”. Over half of my income this year came from teaching. I wish I didn’t have to teach anymore, but here we are
2. Stop selling my time away for small change. I am done playing the part of the hungry millenial. I think it’s a funny archetype, it was even useful at times, but I’m so over it. I have a couple of ideas for teaching a bunch of people instead of one at a time (I’m an EFL teacher, in case you’re wondering, 15 years’ experience, paid for Law School with it), which should also free me up to refuse shitty low paying cases and focus on the ones that will really pay off (And I hate busy-work cases)
I have an arbitrary number of five years to achieve financial freedom or get myself in the earnest way of it. Which will make me 43 to 45 and ridiculously experienced by the time I’m ready to relinquish the courthouse to the newcomers and go on with my ambition of becoming a jurist
“But deary there’s a terrible crisis going on”. Bitch, don’t I know it. This is precisely why I have to be as efficent as I can, and lose no time, and even if my whole plan doesn’t pan out, at least I won’t be poor and scared and frustrated
i'm changing my blog style from neon fashion to fresh!
