Lemme point out a few of the most disappointing things from the new Hellboy trailer;
The directors promised it would be "darker" than the originals however all that we were shown is mostly poor goofs with off humour and bad dialogue as well as cartoony bright monsters
As of yet no Abe Sapien apperance
Already too many generic CGI monsters and fight scenes; the original movies were so good and iconic because of the effort they put into creature effects and stunts.
It's based in London and oooh boy those atrocious fake accents the actors had
Where is Abe???
They seemed to have changed key aspects of characters such as Prof Broom who was a wise, caring fatherly figure now seeks more like a happy-go-lucky uncle.
The music
WHERE IS MY BLUE FISHY BOY!??!?
Edit:
I have been made aware will be no other B.P.R.D agents we recognise from the first few movies/comic story arcs (such as Abe and Liz) because this takes places way further in comics when they're not around, fair enough.
Other points, as well as ones others have added, are still valid though.
The main reason why Hellboy gained such an occult following and thus a push for a remake was made was because of the unique qualities the movies had. The heavy dark fantasy themes and as I've already said the attention to detail in sets, props, stunts and creature effects that other movies at the time didn't and many still don't have. You could see the time and effort put into creating to world, character and story.
This is why people wanted more.
And I can see why other people who weren't expecting that like the look of the new trailer I can completely see why some of y'all like it.
And if not bevause of that, because it's a generic CGI superhero movie to go along with what's trending and popular at the moment.
It was just dissapointing for people who fell in love with the first two movies and though, yes we did expected some things to be different of course with a new director and cast, were so hyped up for the new one but so far it has nothing it in we expected or was promised really.
I do sincerely hope it was just a bad trailer and other ones will show some aspects we were hoping for.
Saw the new Hellboy movie. it was pretty terrible and the first Hellboy movies were my favourite growing up, so for the first time in my life, something I consider nostalgic had now been remade. [This is how adulthood hit me. 17 when the trailer came out, 18 when I saw it today].
Nothing is ruined. Now there exists a shittier version of that film/comic I love, so what? You cry babies always going on about your childhood being ruined need to chill the heck out.
