K-POP THE BOY OF SUPER SPACE : THE BOSS Malaysia First Showcase

The Boss, often referred to as DGNA, is a South Korean boy band with five members, formed under Open World Entertainment in 2010. In South Korea, they are known as Dae Guk Nam Ah, literally meaning ‘The Boys of Super Space’, which is how their English name “The Boss” was formed, which is mainly used outside of Korea. All of the five member Mika, Karam, Hyunmin,Injun and Jay. The Boss was debuted on March 4, 2010 with their song ‘Admiring Boy’ on Mnet Countdown. Their fancafés have exceeded 40,000 members in only a few months of their existence in Korea.

After success in overseas countries such as Thailand and China, The Boss are scheduled to spend more time in Japan to promote their music. They have been spent a year promoting their Japanese singles, “Love Power”, “Love Bingo”, and “Love Parade” in 2011 as part of their ‘Love Series’ before returning to Korea to promote ‘Lady’ in late October 2011. They have been commonly known as ‘K-Pop re-exported from Japan’ as they used ‘Japan-First, Korea-Later’ strategy in their performance.

The Boss has won the Best Newcomer Award in the 20th Seoul Music Award and the Best Stage Performance Award  in the Hong Kong Asian Pop Music Festival (HKAMF).  

In the year of 2014,The Boss is going to visit Malaysia from 17th June 2014 to 23rd June 2014,  to have their first in Malaysia showcase for one week. They are one of few Korean group will perform Japanese song in the showcase. Their popularity attract few group of foreign fans to flight to Malaysia to support them.

AlphaBAT 1st in Malaysia Showcase

AlphaBAT, which consist of 9 members, held their showcase here in Malaysia in two cities, Johor Bahru and Kuala Lumpur. The quest for the 10th member was held at Danga City Mall (26th April 2014) and continued at The Summit, USJ (27th April 2014). where contestants showcased their individual talents.

To kick start the show in The Summit, USJ, contestants were put through the test of performing their respective talents to a panel of judges and in the face of the crowd. The judges consist of people from AlphaBAT’s management company, Simtong Entertainment. Each individual had their unique style of performance which wooed the crowd and (hopefully) impressed the judges.After the auditions were over, all 9 members of AlphaBAT entered onto the stage to a string of screams and shouts.AlphaBAT started the show with a cover of TVXQ’s ‘Love in the Ice’, showcasing great emotion throughout the song, much to the delight of fans. They then introduced themselves in their signature moves to a sea of screaming fans. The next song that the members performed was ‘Always’ from their 1st mini album, ‘Attention’.

They also had a Game Session in which each member handpicked 9 lucky fans to go on stage and play a game. The lucky fans walked away with handmade soap by the members and the winners of the game received a signed mini album from the members. AlphaBAT put on a good cover of Infinite’s ‘Nothing is Over’ proving their flexibility in their performance. They also danced and sang to BEAST’s ‘Fiction’. AlphaBAT continued with their song ‘AB City’ to a tireless audience. ‘Tantara’ got the biggest cheer from the crowd as the fans sang along with the song (accompanied by the occasional screams).

After the show, photo session was carried out where fans with photo passes had the opportunity to take a photo with AlphaBAT in groups of 8. An autograph session was held next whereby fans who purchased AlphaBAT’s mini album got to have the albums signed by each member.

To sum up, AlphaBAT definitely made an impact in Malaysia with their amazing performance!
