One of those looks that was a struggle to come together but I like the final result 🪦 Skirt Vixen by Micheline Pitt, boots New Rock. Seeing Gary Numan again tonight 🖤
Shadow High Rexx McQueen shoes » Vetements x New Rock platform sneakers
So recently I guess that older post about whether New Rock boots were associated with goth/industrial culture before the 2010s started getting notes again. (Not my post, but I had commented on it, I guess, which I don't even remember doing.) I don't know why and I don't really care. But! If you need more proof that they were popular in the early '00s, here's a photo I found of me in 2004:
Sixteen-year-old me had just saved up to buy the boots and was obviously very proud. Also featured: thrifted pinstripe skirt, shitty striped tank top probably from Walmart, duct tape on my arm (?), and a free Johnson-O'Malley backpack that I wrote band names on (and used up all of my grandmother's white out in the process).
Also worth noting is that at the time I was living in an extremely small rural town, with a population of 800, so it's not like I was some city-dwelling outlier. I think I had seen some goth model on Livejournal wearing New Rocks and I decided I had to have a pair. I still have them, but I would need to gradually work up the muscles to wear them out again, lol.
wait literally dont tell me im not true to sematary :<
I’ll put you down to sleep beneath the flowers 🌷
