Lara has a hardcore drinking problem bordering on alcohol addiction. So if she really is going to try to turn her life around she'll need to stop drinking not to mention if she's going to try to be a reporter and a masked vigilante that needs to happen soon. Okay I think I got so invested and engaged in this character because here I am extolling the view of drinking too much in regards to a fictional character. Still that I am opening with this and I am saying this should tell you how much I am enjoying this series. Pure and simple these folks have managed to create a wonderful little book. The way that we see this being told is extremely well done. The story & plot development in how we see the sequence of events of unfold and how the reader learns information have this solid execution to them. The character development is obviously outstanding and that Lara and Ernesto have become to essential to one another whether they realise it or not is sensational. Plus the way we see characters come and go in Lara's life is interesting and planned well. I say this and if you are reading this you'll understand when you meet the mysterious old friend from her past. With the pacing here we see such a great ebb & flow the book and it reads so well that when you get to the last page you are surprised and still want more. So many amazing little things are happening here and I wish Lara would entrust Ernesto to more of her life all things considered she's been fired and is alienating everyone else through her antics when she drinks. When Lara begins to take this more seriously, which I am hoping will be next issue, as she realises that there are indeed serious consequences to her actions. The interiors here are good, solid stuff. I wish that backgrounds were utilised as if they were essential to the moment, or scene or what have you. When we see them they are magnificent and the detail in the buildings we see from her vantage point is amazing. The characters seem kind of simple but they pack a lot feelings and emotions in their faces and body language. The linework is really rather impressive and I like how the varying weights are being utilised. The utilisation of the page layouts and how we see the angles and perspective in the panels show a great eye for storytelling. The colour work is nice and solid. There is some interesting utilisation of colour throughout and how we see damage to buildings and such, I wish we saw more variation in the hues and tones to create more shading, highlights and shadows. This is another incredible series that really stakes the claim that we should all be reading books digitally and physically. Granted I do want a trade paperback when it's all said and done because the story is amazingly fun, quirky and intelligent and I'd love to put on my bookshelf. We'll see there are no rules for this platform so maybe someday we'll see that and be able to pick it up and read it whenever even where there isn't any devices available to use. In the meantime get yourself any of the ways that allow you read this because by George I think they've got it!
