✘ ⌖ ➶ For her entire life, Natalia knew violence. Found abandoned as a baby, she was brought up by the KGB soldier, Ivan Petrovich. He cared for her, but never knew the meaning of the word "coddle". At the age of ten, he died, leaving her at the mercy of the Russian government. Straight away she was inducted into Department X where she was trained to be a soldier while she continued her education. At the age of fifteen, her life took a hard turn as she was brought into the Red Room. There, soldiers were trained for more than just fighting. She learned to lie, to be invisible, and how to kill.
For three years the redhead had excelled in her studies, proving to be a model student. Not every recruit was cut out for the Red Room. In fact, not all of them survived the training. Natalia was confident, though. She felt as though she could weather anything. As though she'd already walked through fire and lived to tell the tale.
At the age of eighteen, however, her hardest days were just beginning.
Natalia became one of twenty-eight girls to start the Black Widow Ops program. It was rumored to be green lit after the success of a super soldier that Department X had trained, but Natalia knew better than to worry about the politics and details. Her mind was focused on being the top of her class and making the Red Room, and her motherland, proud.
Florescent lights bathed the large, brand new gym in a harsh light. The room was cold, though it was nothing compared to the freezing tundra just outside the concrete walls. Madame B stood at the front of the room, looking out of place on the mats with her pencil skirt suit and low heels. She was all business, her expression severe as she spoke to the twenty-eight girls about their new life in the program. She was introducing their very first hand to hand combat training session which was something Natalia wasn't worried about in the least.
That is, until Madame B introduced their new combat instructor.
The heavy sounds of boots were heard before Natalia saw him. Though his face wasn't one that she recognized, it was the gleaming metal arm that gave him away. That arm caused a palpable shift to run through the class as the girls tried to swallow their fear. The KGB's super soldier was more legend than man. He was a rumor spoke of in hushed voices. Natalia didn't even think he was real, but rather he was a team of soldiers who got the work done. But as she stared at the light that reflected off of his left shoulder, she knew instantly who her new instructor was.
<Girls,> Madame B said in Russian. <Welcome Winter Soldier.>
