Nell Blaine who was confined to a wheelchair, and still actively painting, was elegant, accommodating and welcoming. She was eager to be part of my “Biographical Portrait of Women” series. Along with the dozens of photos I took of her and her surroundings, our conversations which included her companion the painter Carolyn Harris, and much research, I created this portrait. (My friend Fanshien Mellis, well known for her art tours and lectures, also an artist, came along to help me set up my equipment and also participated in our lively conversations.) R.I.P.
