so he’d be lying if there wasn’t a big grin on his face when he hears the voicemail. he’s at steve’s tonight because the boys have decided to take the night adventuring and grace is with her mother. so he leans against steve’s side of the bed, phone nestled against the crook of his shoulder.
“geez ma—”
he’ll save the number for later, tell her that his partner is coming along too. maybe, maybe, he’ll just figure out a way to tell her that maybe there was something more to his and steve’s relationship. in the meantime, he’s distracted by said seal coming waltzing out of the bathroom. that towel is far too small and that smirk is far too smug.
the message is saved for later as his phone clatters onto the nightstand and he tastes cold water and warm lips.
thanksgiving and christmas he decides as the towel falls to the floor.
