Sorry this is going to be long but like what if you’re married to Jake and nobody realizes bc like you both keep it professional at work and decently so in front of your coworkers and you give sass as good as you get (you have to to be with hangman) and you’re a strong independent woman who can handle her own shit (which you’re both fine with bc you’re both confident in your abilities and let’s be real the feminism leaves you’re body the moment jakes got you underneath him and that’s a okay too) so even tho you aren’t trying to hide it the dots haven’t necessarily been connected but at the end of the day he is your husband and to him that means he is your protector and as much as he’s willing to let you do your dangerous job the moment everything starts to wear on you and you look just a little bit tired and a little bit quiet at the Hard Deck he’s by your side fending off even the friendliest of jokes made by the squad, taking you home, practically carrying you to and from the car, just letting you relax and be safe in his energy and let your guard down enough to not need to be in control all the time and rest like you get home and instead of going through the nightly routine of locking up the house and prepping lunch for the next day you’re ready to just lay down in bed and rest bc jakes there and he’s gonna take care of it and then he comes and cuddles you and gives you little praises and comforts like “you’re doing such a good job at work” and “I’m so proud of you and I love you so much” and “I’m always here to support and take care of you” he just makes it all better by giving you the space to let your guard down and be taken care of instead of doing it all yourself

because when you’re at work you both keep it professional and tied in. the rest of the squad doesn’t know and you agreed that you wouldn’t be open about it at work in case it hinders your jobs. but jake knows you can’t always hold up your guard and act like you’re not married. sometimes work is exhausting and you need him, you need your husband and jake recognises this.

the rest of the squad think jake’s taking you home and dropping you off, but in reality he’s being your husband and taking care of you. he knows exactly what you go through because he goes through the same. sure he’ll let you do it yourself when you’re at work, but he’ll be damned if the moment you step through the door he doesn’t take the weight off your shoulders.

Ooh that is such a tough question, thanks for asking! I do genuinely love so many of my fics, but I’m going to have to go with my Dougie Hamilton fic, Take A Chance, because not only do I adore that big gentle giant but I put so much of myself in that one too! 💖
