Photos by Roger Cullman On July 7th 2007, we invited you to join us for a massive renegade parade through Bloor Street, the subway and the waterfront. We were accompanied by marching bands, soundsystem buses, fireworks and a thousand shiny, happy people. This summer, we're doing it again. Meet us at a soon-to-be-announced location, with bells on (and wings, and silly hats, and balloons, and noise-makers, and glowing lights, and costumes.) We will guide our roving band of merrymakers through (and below) the streets of Toronto, finally finishing at a mystery location and a new kind of transportation we've never partied in before ;) We will take things over, dance in strange places, make a lot of noise, and have tons of fun. WHAT TO BRING: + Costume or amazing outfit + Subway token or MetroPass + $7 exact change. (You'll see why!) Want to get involved? E-mail [email protected] Everybody else, please invite your friends :) ♥
newmindspace is planning a Castles in the Sky 2014 for July 26. If you're anywhere near Toronto you just might want to take part in an amazing urban/people/art/parade.
Lori Kufner and Kevin Bracken are the minds behind Newmindspace, a non-profit organization that throws huge, unique parties for all ages across major cities in North America. Their events, ranging from mass pillow fights and bubble wars to enormous games of Capture the Flag on city streets, attract up to 5,000 guests at a time. According to the website, the goal is to "promote free events in public space, bring people together and create community."
As community is an essential part of everyday life, it is incredibly refreshing to see new, fun, and free ways to bring people together for a common goal.
