WORKING ON NEW GLASS PAINTINGS! #newpaintings #newpainter #newart #newwork #artglass https://www.instagram.com/p/B1e6Ls8IxQ1/?igshid=1d0wxhp7uz593
So, I’m trying to teach myself how to paint.... • I picked this because it looked like one of my mom’s chickens. (I dunno why I chose something so difficult for my second painting ever.... but ya know 🤷♀️) • Being a typical mom, she proudly displays it for everyone to see.... in front of the egg spiral. • Now I feel like HeiHei is judging me every time I reach for an egg.... 🥺 • • • • • #farmfresh #farmfresheggs #acrylicpaintings #chickenpainting #newpainter #beginnerpainter #newhobby #thesecrettribes #thesecrettribe30 (at Dawsonville, Georgia) https://www.instagram.com/p/BvpmtY1ls0m/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=lip5fh8vdrpi

Focusing On Positives
According to Chopra.com Meditation has been around for at least 5,000 years, with the earliest documentation of it being around 1500 BCE. Well, my dog’s breed was recognized in 1902 by the AKC, which is considerably later.
Yesterday we started with yoga. We use Youtube on the television, because that’s were we are at. I used to take classes and giggle when there was chanting, but we’re currently carless and I’m also trying to take things a bit more seriously, so we use Youtube. I no longer giggle at chanting, but Riley howls. Apparently the chanting must remind him of his ancestors chasing raccoons through the forest. Riley looks for people, not raccoons, and for the most part only howls when everyone in the house is trying to focus on other things. Like phone calls, work, or yoga.
Yoga was so relaxing with the howling that I decided we would move on to other means. I picked up some acrylic paints at the local Walmart, in anticipation of needing something to quiet all the thoughts in my mind, and I watched a video on how to do some simple paintings. I spent about an hour after my yoga session this morning painting.
My grandmother, who I called Nanny, painted. She was my father’s mother and she had an art studio in her attic. We would sit at the tables together while she taught us to paint and gave us art supplies to do various projects. She was exceptionally talented. I couldn’t manage to blend primary colors together today, but I probably haven’t picked up a paint brush since she last handed me one. I don’t remember how old I was then, but I’m going to say I was at the very latest 8 years old. My painting may look like it was done by an 8 year old, but at least we did something and we quieted our minds for a little bit.
Tomorrow is a new day, so enjoy this one and look forward to the next.
