Back in the swing!
The 2012 album 'Landmark' from Sittin' Idols packs a few punches throughout and keeps you listening from start to finish, no questions asked. With a strong and excellent choice of an opening track, 'A Million Seeds Like Me', they clearly set the bar high for the standard of the rest of the album: I can promise that they do NOT disappoint with the songs to follow. The talented, and the almost haunting, at times vocals stick with you throughout and effortlessly put across the well written lyrics that you often can't help but find yourself miming along too. The alternating pace of the album keeps you on your toes when listening and fully shows the skills that reside within the members of this band.
With such a powerful album it's clear that Sittin' Idols are more than ready to take on the big music world with force and leave a lasting impression. Not only this, but they sound pretty darn promising for a strong and energetic live set. So if you get chance to catch them live or even just have a listen to the album, either on Spotify or your own purchased album, take it and be prepared to be highly impressed and expect great things to come for these guys.
And here it is! My link through to the review that I wrote on Tuesday for the McFly gig at Portsmouth Guildhall is finally up! It includes one photograph of the support act 'The Vamps' along with two photographs for the great guys of 'McFly' themselves. This review will be up for about two and a half weeks to go with the agreement that I had made with Live Nation prior to the event taking place where I agreed for the photographs to only be viewed/sold for 3 weeks.
McFly Review
Shoulllllld be up by the time I have to do my final presentation for this assignment so i'll be able to show off at least TWO of the photographs that I took on behalf of New Reviews to cover the night :)
AND! This link is to the interview that me and Samara were able to do with the vocalist of The Pigeon Detectives, Matt Bowman :D
This is a quick link through to the review and a brief look at the photographs that I did for The Pigeon Detectives at the Wedgewood Rooms last Saturday, all up and looking pretty on the New Reviews website :)
Although
I still have about 2-3 band promotional shoots to do this week as well as a pretty big commission to take on on Thursday for my old friend Jinx Prowse, CEO of Music Fusion, I'm pretty impressed with what it is that I have been able to do so far for the work experience project this year. And as much as it was mainly set between a certain time frame, being able to actually span it across the year since we were introduced to the project and fitting it in successfully around the rest of the university assignments and my job has been great and quite beneficial. Since starting this project for work experience I've done stuff from live band shoots as part of my experience with New Reviews, a major band promo shoot for experience with Scott Chalmers all the way through to smaller promo shoots, first major family photoshoot introducing my youngest model at only 17 days old and topped off with my first official wedding as the requested 'professional' photographer.
It'll be a shame for this assignment to end but luckily I think that I've hit a strong, high and consistent standard of quality with my work that I don't see the offers to shoot and gigs coming to an end after we've had our hand in :)
Basically, I'm pretty chuffed with myself especially knowing this is my last assignment to do and hand in which'll mean I've survived my first year at university :)
The photograph above is one of the photographs that I took on the 11th of May at the Wedgewood Rooms of The Pigeon Detectives. This photograph in particular is the one that I will be submitting as a set of three to accompany the review that i'll be sending over to Suzie ASAP to go on the New Reviews website. Once it's uploaded to the site of the review, and the photographs and the accompanying interview that I was lucky to do on Wednesday I'll be able to upload the link to my Tumblr blog and from there I'll be able to completely edit all of the photos for all three bands :)
