Salt roasting is now like a new sport for me. I tried my hands at salt roasting this sweet potato and it worked out so well. The texture was so much like that of the chaat wala street vendor who would roast the sweet potatoes in a huge clay pot. I loved the smoky flavour infused into them because of the hot smoking ash with hot burning coals on top and the sweet potatoes buried underneath the hot ash. It was a sight to behold as we waited for him to pull them out one by one, peel them with his weary fingers, then cut them into pieces, sprinkle loads of chaat masala, chilli powder and finally serve it to us in a leaf bowl. So yummy! Can we relive those moments by making this chaat at home? Absolutely not! Those moments are lost in time and gone forever!
