Nightly thoughts (written story under the cut)

Thea trusted Newt more than anyone. It’s not that some of the magical beasts they studied were not dangerous. Newt was a skilled wizard though. He could handle any animal from a Kelpie to a fiery Dragon. But when there were also dark wizards and hunters for rare magical creatures who intended to kill you, thoughts that tomorrow could be their last day didn’t leave Thea alone. Especially not in this night.

Newt finally came back to bed. He wrote down some notes about his studies of the Runespoor they had discovered a few days ago and was about to tell her about the meaning of it’s three heads but Thea forgot to listen. Instead she wrapped her arms around his waist and leaned her head against his back.

“Thea? Is something wrong?” Newt asked a little confused.

“It’s nothing… I just… I love you… I love you so much.” She had the feeling to tell him. There were more words in her head to tell him how important he is to her. What a wonderful person he is. She just wanted him to know that he is loved. That she cares for him. That she is happy that he is here. That he is with her. But that was everything she could do and say now due to the tiredness that was trying to overcome her.

A soft smile appeared on his lips. “I know… I love you too…” He put his notebook to the side and turned to face her. “Shall we go to bed now? You seem pretty exhausted.”

He placed a kiss on her forehead and they spend the rest of the night cuddling until the magic lights, which were floating through their room, faded and they both fell asleep.

AU where Newt works as Professor for Care of Magical Creatures and Thea as Healer at Hogwarts! I can imagine the students talking about how their Professor is interested in one of the healers because they’re always sharing looks and smiles when they see each other :3
