Newt/Hermann Winter Exchange 2025 ❄️👨‍🔬❤️👨‍🔬❄️

Once again it is time for what I can only assume is everyone's most special beloved annual holiday tradition, the Newt/Hermann 2025 Winter Exchange! (I feel like you guys know the drill at this point but here's a info post anyway.)

To join the exchange, sign up using this form by the end of Sunday, 11/30/25.

How does it work? If you sign up for the exchange by the end of November, I’ll randomly and anonymously match up all participants and assign you a giftee by Wednesday, December 3rd. It’ll then be your responsibility to create some form of Newt/Hermann content (fic, art, etc.) for your giftee by January 31st, 2026, and in return, someone will make some form of Newt/Hermann content for you!

Keep your giftee a secret until you share your gift with them!

You are of course welcome to finish up your gift as early as you would like, but a loose deadline of gifting by the end of January is preferred.

There are some more specific details about signing up in the form, as well as a spot to share your ‘wishlist’ (i.e., tropes or scenarios you just can’t live without that might be helpful if your giftee needs some inspiration!), and another spot to indicate interest in being a pinch hitter.

I’ll be crossposting about this on Bluesky/Twitter/Instagram as well.

Official sign-ups are now open for the 2025 Newmann Big Bang! This fan folks is for folks who would want to participate in a fandom big bang dedicated to Newt/Hermann, the pairing from the ever classic film Pacific Rim (2013). The only restriction is that works for this should focus on the relationship between these two characters as a primary or major focus- romantic, sexual, and platonic interpretations are all allowed as well as any combination of the three. What is a Big Bang? You can find a good overview on fanlore here. The short of it is, it's an event to create a flurry of new content for a fandom by pairing writers and artists together to create something wonderful. The first step is for fic writers to create fanfictions related to the topic and then pair them up with artists who create artwork for the piece. Typically, these are longer works and the entire process takes several months from start to finish.

Newt/Hermann Smutfest 2025 is now on! (18+ Only!)

Prompt sign-ups for smutfest are now officially open!! You can find the spreadsheet at the link above. (I combined some of the similar concepts that were sent in for more variety; I tried to arrange them by general to specific prompts but kind of gave up lol.)

Please sign up by putting your username into the center column by your prompt of choice. (Note, only that column is editable!) For now, please just choose 1 prompt, but you're welcome to check back and choose a second one in another week or so! One you fill your prompt, feel free to send in a DM or submission (either to here, or on main @hermannsthumb) and I'll link your piece on the spreadsheet. :) You can also post to the AO3 collection right here.

And please make sure you submit a form here before signing up on the spreadsheet!!! This is basically just for you to give me a thumbs up that you're 18+ (and so I know what username you're posting under).
