(18+) newt/hermann smutfest 2025??
HELLOOOO!!! So as many of you who have been around in Newt/Hermann fandom for a little while might remember, back in 2018 @pendragoff & I & others ran a small Newt/Hermann Smutfest, the blog of which is right here (RIP to half the art posts that fell victim to the adult content Ban a couple months later..... Unfortunately I think I'll have to be a little euphemistic in my wording in this post lest it's filtered from tags for similar crimes, lol, but.)
You can read more about Smutfest in the About page, the Rules, and the FAQ on the old blog, but the gist of it was that:
For a couple-ish weeks in September, (18+!) people submitted a variety of Newt/Hermann smut prompts to the blog via Askbox. These prompts could be general concepts/kinks (i.e. Bondage), more Newmann-specific kinks (i.e. Sexy ghost drifting), or whole scenarios (i.e. Getting walked in on while making out in the lab, oh no!).
Prompts were treated wholly anonymous, no one would know if you submitted it.
We compiled the prompts into a long Google spreadsheet, which we then shared on the blog. Prompts were accepted on a rolling basis and the spreadsheet was being regularly updated!
For another couple weeks, 18+ creators signed up with a Google form, and then chose one prompt on the spreadsheet (by entering their username next to it) and created smutty art/fic/comics/etc. for it. These were as short/simple or as long/elaborate as they liked. Didn't have to be a prompt they submitted either, just whatever looked fun!
Likewise, fest sign-ups were accepted on a rolling basis.
At the time the resulting smut MASTERPIECE was posted across Tumblr, AO3, and/or Twitter, but given how, uh, shitty for art posting 2/3 of those platforms have become in recent times, mostly posting to AO3 for those who have accounts would probably be more realistic (&Bsky?) now?
There was no real deadline for posting your piece, but end of October was preferred!

After the initial round of sign-ups and postings were finished, creators could sign up for a second prompt if they wanted to. Maybe even a THIRD. As I mentioned, sign-ups from anyone were accepted on a rolling basis. Generally this was all wrapped up by the end of October.
&And that was it!!! It was just a fun little fest and it led to a lot of really awesome fic and art.
The amazing LJ/pendragoff is hosting the Newmann Big Bang this fall, and in the interest of "there's simply never enough Newmann" we thought it would be fun to revive Smutfest at least somewhat concurrently (though I would be modding Smutfest 2k25 solo-style!). Sort of like a lower-commitment alternative to Kinktober for 18+ creators who aren't doing the Big Bang or 18+ creators who ARE but would like a small break from working on their Big Bang piece.
Anyway, mostly posting this as half-interest check, half-announcement that Newmann Smutfest 2 (Electric Boogaloo) is incoming shortly. Assuming at least like ten people are down to participate (feel free to give me a thumbs up if you are lol), I'll probably spruce up the fest blog and start asking for prompt submissions as early as this week!
