Happy New Year, Everyone!
It's my turn to add a little sappy holiday greeting before we begin the new year of posts, challenges and fun. I've found myself profoundly grateful for my little tumblr community and for the optimism you lovely people have brought me.
At the beginning of 2025, I was in a really negative space with simblr. A good number of the friends I had made here had moved on, passed away, or otherwise abandoned the platform. Many of those that were left on my feed were bitter, caustic, and clearly no longer enjoying the elements of small-scale blogging. Coming back after my own break to grieve a family member, it was... a depressing landscape. I felt quite lonely.
But I wasn't - not really. A few gems of folks (you know who you are) were there, pestering me to get cracking on our prep for the simstober season, generally yapping about life, and reminding me that at the very least, I had projects to see out before I gave up blogging for good.
So I got to work. I finished @gumdropwcif - a blog that is the grandbaby of my initial blogging goals for simblr - worked on Halloween prep, and started the side blog @gumdropandfriends to get more engaged in the current community. Out of pure disinterest in loading my cc-bloated game, I started playing more with blender.
Over the course of only a few months, I fell in love again. With creation, with blogging, with you. Over these past few months, I have discovered so many wonderful, funny, creative people. You inspire me - with your talent (the design skills here are unmatched), with your kindness, with your playfulness. In an internet landscape that can often feel quite bleak, you are a rare treasure.
To every mutual (from the past few months or otherwise) thank you. For following me back, for tolerating my slightly-too-muchness, for being slightly-too-much yourselves. 😂 My days are better with you in them and I really mean that.
Here's to another year of dreaming big and telling tall tales. I cannot wait to see the astonishing things my community creates. ❤
