As St Basil the Great (Patron Saint of Hospital Administrators, pesto, & caprese) & Saint Genevieve (Patron Saint of Paris, girls, Bryant Ave, & an extremely charitable individual) have feasts in their honor in these 1st days of January; I thought Diamond Lake Bistro should prepare a feast to honour the Saints that have guided our journey. And in the Germanic culinary tradition, & giving thanks to @kramarczuks for the goods, we prepared Knackwurst & wieners w/ sauerkraut onions, garlic, shallots, & spaetzle - #newyearsfeast Included in the homage to our #Saints & on the New Year groaning board: a representation of the many small victories we’ve achieved in this time of daily defeats (and feats); the anchor - #hope ; the Star of Bella - #faith ; the Concord Point Lighthouse - #ourlove & safety in the ongoing travels & travails; a cowboy boot - a nod to the uncertainty of life & the ability to roll w/ the punches; Jim’s hot sauce - #passions ; a rock (sedimentary, maybe?) - strength, grit, endurance, & earth’s energy; the Golden Girls #pictureit #quarantine2020 - humor; & a cork - “let us eat, drink, & be merry, for tomorrow we shall die” Imhotep - #livethelife #lifelived -:- mustards, additionally, are an important part of the meal.
