always the quietest in a family full of strong willed women and in the closet until her teenage years, birdie often struggled with her confidence. for most of her life she thought that it made her weak to be so sensitive, that something was wrong with her for crying at commercials while no one else batted an eye. she wasn’t happy with the person that she was, more content falling behind her sister and hiding in the background than trying to find herself. she let farrah make all of her decisions and take the lead, which is how she ended up in elias in the first place.
the plan was to come back home after graduation when her twin began to travel, but birdie quickly found that elias was home. growing up in her smaller town she had kept to herself, she didn’t have many friends and there wasn’t much to do in her spare time. but here, she found power in her soft nature. she found herself. while everyone else rushed around and talked over her, she no longer felt that she needed to change who she was to fit in. she could paint her face and attend pride parades, she could take any classes that interested her, she could ride her bicycle to town whenever she wanted. she was happy. busy, working two jobs, volunteering at two places and running an online craft store, but birdie everwood was so happy that now when she over-cried, it was almost always tears of joy.
