Fred is a young comic book enthusiastic, with a slightly overbearing, yet lovable personality. He comes off like a laid-back dude with no direction. But this sign-twirling, monster-loving, comic-book aficionado is sure to go places—when he’s good and ready. At first glance you would never believe that he is the son of a wealthy couple in the city of San Fransokyo. In this case, don’t judge a book by its cover. Fred’s father made his fortune by creating comic books and video games, which is where Fred got his obsession. As for his mother she was a famous wedding dress designer. When Fred was a child he was very close to his father. The man always embraced his son’s peculiar ways. His son was special in his eyes and his father knew that he was meant for greatness. They would normally spend their days talking about his father’s latest book and often ask his son for ideas. Fred had a very active imagination and his father looked to him for inspiration. Most of the comics his father created were based on things Fred told him. He was his father’s greatest muse. When Fred entered his teen years he rarely spent quality time with his parents, they were often away on the family owned-private isles. The boy normally found himself under the care of his butler, Heathcliff. Nevertheless, the family fortune, as well as the family mansion, are left in Fred’s care during their absence, and the young man spends such privileges satisfying his unhealthy obsession with comic book lore, Japanese giant monsters, and other nerdy hobbies.
During high school Fred wasn’t the best student. More often than not he slacked off in school and slept through classes. It was a waste, really, because deep down Fred was actually a very bright student. He just didn’t apply himself the way he should have. Somehow the boy managed to pass high school by the skin of his teeth. He didn’t plan on going to some pretentious ivy league college anyway. Fred was fine with being average. Luckily for Fred he had a fascination with technology and science. Thanks to his father it was the subject he excelled at most. So, when he applied to the San Fransokyo Institute of Technology, they were more than happy to take him. By fall he was attending the institute, where he got a job as the school’s mascot, as well as entertains his passion for science (which in reality seems to actually be more of a fanboyish love for science-fiction). At school, he spends most of his time with his closest friends, Wyatt Ginley, Haven Lemos, Leiko Tomago, and Tadashi Hamada. His friends found him annoying sometimes but they know he means well. Which is a good thing for Fred since he’s had a rather lonely childhood, he sees his friends as a second family. In college Fred actually pushed himself to be great, as did his friends. They saw how creative and intelligent he actually was. Only thing, Fred didn’t take the path of science, shocking right? Fred actually became an English major, which requires both creativity and clear, logical thought. While he lacks ‘classical scientific assets’, Fred is no idiot and could well be a genius in his own field.
All was well in his world until the day tragedy struck. During the school’s science fair Tadashi had brought his little brother Hiro to participate so he could get accepted into the institute. Fred was more than happy to help Hiro in any way he needed. He took a great liking to the younger boy from the get-go. Everything was going well until a mysterious fire broke lose causing everyone to evacuate. Not long after that the entire building exploded. When the smoke cleared Fred and his friends all dashed about to find Hiro and Tadashi. When they found a sobbing Hiro alone in the middle of the street they knew the worst had happened - Tadashi didn’t make it out of the building. It was a hard pillow for everyone to swallow. No matter how hard he tried Fred couldn’t even find a brighter side to the horrible event. Normally he was very optimistic and could see the silver lining through anything, but this? There was no getting past this. He had a friend - a piece of his second family, gone forever. It wasn’t like there was a Fred could bring Tadashi back. For once he hoped his expert knowledge of comics would come in handy, but this was reality. What’s dead stayed dead. That was an even harder concept for Fred to wrap his mind around. With the San Fransokyo Institute of Technology burnt down the students were relocated to Elias to attend Walt University. It was a new start for Fred and his friends - just not the start he wanted. Instead of being a downer, Fred decided to make the best of his situation. For his sake and for his friends. Someone had to get everything through this and remain positive, why not him?

Fred immediately took a liking to Hiro upon meeting him. He showed great support and enthusiasm towards the boy throughout all endeavors. Since the passing of his brother, Fred has kept a close eye on Hiro. He can only imagine what he’s going through and hopes to help him overcome his sadness. Like everyone else he just wants to see Hiro happy again. Fred believes, no, he knows that Hiro is going to change the world with his insane intelligence. And he can’t wait to say one day he knew him when.
