At home packing my stuff combing through my belongings. I’m heading to Jordan 🇯🇴 w/ #nextlevelUSA. I stopped to pick up my phone for a second. I couldn’t help but notice the pics of people’s kids graduating. Hence every Graduation season I do get a little sad. I never walked across nobody’s stage. They robbed me, I didn’t drop out I went to school all four years. But even back then as a teenager I was riding on the system so they hindered me from receiving my HS diploma for political reasons. WGrowing up in St.Louis our public high schools were like a prisons. I transferred from Rosary Catholic School to Tech and they didn’t bring over all of my credits. I never went back for my GED because I went to school all four years and didn’t feel this was fair. My application of the knowledge bestowed to me from the likes of KRS One , Scarface , Tupac, and Nas educated me. If I ever have children I’ll push them to be better than me. My enroute isn’t the easy route.This is the road for those that know who they are already and don’t society’s faux validations. Everything they ever taught us was a HOAX. Three Harvard University fellowships later they finally feel me. I’m teaching at the ILiff Theology University in Denver again next spring. We’re the same place, sitting at the same tables, hosting the same conversations, but I had to kill and draw blood from others to get here. So with no shade involved this makes me a better human being than most of my contemporaries. No smut on my name from the real legends of my city.The dusties and f*ck boys will always and forever try it.
