I made a Rock Web Shrine!

Because did you know I think about this guy a lot? I didn't think it was obvious enough. Looks best on desktop, but should be at least functional on mobile

Here are the Rocks I drew for it, with the goal of replicating Tezuka's style more than usual:

After rereading the world to come, I like the two of Cocoa and Rock.

To Cocoa, who was left alone by FuuMoon and others. I think there is a slight conscience in Rock, who throws harsh words("Drink tears!"), but never leaves her behind and drags her to walk.

Rock receives the "bird in the cage", which is the punishment of ignoring the factory owner's poponya(The person on the left side of Kenichi. Cocoa is the girl on the far left) for cocoa and falling into distrust of humans.

If he looks at her calmly, he will realize that she doesn't look like her at all, but if he hasn't seen her for months and works at that factory and is still impatient, I think he can understand that he is mistaken for her.

You’re waiting by the window again. Your uncle hasn’t sent any correspondence—no letters, no telegrams, no calls. Two weeks ago, he left you at the train station to go follow a lead, and his face disappeared into the crowd, not to be seen again. Of course, now that you’ve filed the missing person's report, he’s going to reappear unannounced and make it all for naught. You hope and pray that’s the case, because, as much as you hate to admit it, the stress is starting to get to you. You feel anxious. Nauseous. You’re like a string about to snap; it’s becoming the only thing you can think about.

Oh, given the Metropolis movie builds on and references Duke Red adopting Rock after "the last war"...

Duke Red adopting the orphaned child soldier Rock, swearing to make up for all of his past sorrow and pain, happened for the very first time in Nextworld (which Tezuka-sensei technically released after Metropolis!)

It's a promise Duke Red very often keeps across universes, they are often cast as father and son, whether adopted or biological, and whenever Rock's father is not shown, but vaguely alluded to being filthy rich... it's implicitly Duke Red. ^^

... it's sadly not enough to save Rock from going down a dark path in many storylines*, but, touching nonetheless.

I hope this makes it easier to appreciate Rock in roles like Acudo in Is There a Doctor?! the first chapter of the manga and first of the four-episode Black Jack specials AKA The 4 Miracles of Life that tested audience interest for a full Black Jack TV series... a success!

*Sometimes, Duke Red is even the reason things go wrong... in Metropolis, Duke Red neglecting Rock while favouring a robot, when his son is already deeply prejudiced against robots, sets tragedy into motion.
