Did you know that there's a lost chapter of Boy Detective Rock Holmes? The only evidence we have of its existence is its title, found in a magazine in the early 1950s: 「ドッペルゲンガーの巻」, or "The Doppelgänger."

When asked about it, Tezuka was flippant. He said the plot was about an evil criminal that looked just like Rock, and that it was poorly made, having done the idea better in an earlier work 20のトビィ. Despite its supposed lack of quality, the concept must have stuck in Tezuka's brain, as he'd experiment with meaner Rocks intermittently before fully converting Rock to a villain in later decades.

I wonder if we'll ever see the chapter one day, or if anyone will read this far and learn that I'm lying to you and this chapter doesn't exist. Happy Rock Day ;)
