it’s entirely possible that the hanar originally reached out to help the drell out of the goodness of their squishy hearts but at this point it’s like

a) it’s been 200 years and no workable progress has been made on a cure for Kepral’s Syndrome, the leading cause of death among the already endangered drell

b) no attempt has been made to relocate the drell, despite the fact that their population is still likely under 1 or 2 million individuals (fewer than even the quarians, who all manage to live on ships and haven’t exactly endeared themselves to the council, so finding space for the True Neutral drell is hardly the issue), and despite the fact that the climate on Kahje is actively killing them. There has to be some kind of Sentient Species’ Rights group out there somewhere, right? Where are they during all of this

c) The Compact strongly resembles levies the Ottomans placed on Christian populations under their dominion, taking in talented boys and young men and training and educating them into an elite force loyal overwhelmingly to the sultan (e.g. Janissaries). This helps to cement the hanar supremacy’s power over the drell as well as giving them an incredibly loyal and disciplined fighting force for protection and for taking out their political enemies. Meanwhile the Compact is dressed as a great honor, and clearly has the side effect of basically removing these talented and educated individuals from drell social life and helping to control the population (see: the incredible difficulty Thane had maintaining a family while working, which ultimately ended in tragedy).

Basically what I’m saying is, thank you hanar for saving as many drell as you did, but it’s clear that you’re still exercising pretty heavy-handed means of social and population control bc you don’t want to give up your buff lizard friends who are kept in a mindset of being indebted to you and basically at your mercy

3. Favorite childhood game?

ooooh boy. It’s got to be a toss-up between Sly Cooper and Dark Cloud, just in sheer numbers of hours that went into each. Dark Cloud was like the first game I played that had that jrpg fantasy aesthetic going on so it’s the one that sticks with me the most as being exemplary of that, and little budding anthropologist that I was, I really liked it. I loved how you could go to the different towns and rebuild them and make people happy, and how they all had a unique atmosphere to them. Sly Cooper was the first game that was just a joy to play mechanically. It took me a while to get the feel of the controls down, but once I gained some skillz, there were several levels that I would replay frequently just to relish how smoothly I could get through them.(I’d include Pokemon, except they came out with a new game every few years, so my nostalgia tracks from Gold Version all the way to, like, Fire Red.)

4. Longest consecutive hours you’ve played a game?

Consecutive, probably 10 hours or so, not counting brief pauses for meals. That’s about how many hours a day I was playing DA:I and Mass Effect during last Christmas break and this Christmas break, respectively.

5. Game with the best soundtrack?

Transistor’s soundtrack is really good, man. I also have a soft spot for Dark Cloud, but that’s mainly nostalgia factor.

63. What’s a game that has inspired you?

mmm, that’s tough. I’m not a very creative person so I can’t say any games have inspired me creatively, really. But if you just mean like motivation, then yeah, esp. the Bioware Ladies, namely Aveline, Cassandra, Josie, fem!Hawke, fem!Shep. My shining stars.

Alrighty here goes:

Apollo: My favorite piece of music… ugh this is so difficult. I’d probably say the Divine Comedy quartet by Robert Smith. It is just such a fantastic piece and was the big piece we played at the end of the year in my sophomore year of band which was essentially a conclusion to my favorite year of highschool and just yeah so many awesome memories around this. Although the Planets by Holst is wonderful, and I love that it has inspired so many famous pieces since (aka Harry Potter, Star Wars, and more). Dang sorry this got so long, I just love music. Okay moving on.

Demeter:  I feel like my favorite season changes with every season. I love the new experiences that each new season brings. The melting snow and first rains of spring, that first warm summer night, the first changing leaves and being bundled up in a warm sweatshirt on the first cool fall evening, and the first snow in winter. Overall fall is probably my favorite though. The leaves, sweaters/hoodies, hot chocolate becomes more acceptable, Halloween, etc.

Hesita: I really don’t know what my favorite house would be. Fairly modern, with log-cabin canada touches (read: Club Intrawest), not too big, really open floorplan that brings people together. I think I judge houses based largely on feel, so I wouldn’t really know until I knew.

Artemis: I feel like you just picked the hardest questions for me ><. This also has changed so many times throughout my life. Growing up it was dolphins 1000%, but at some point wolves crept up and took the top spot. And then recently I have fallen in love with river otters. I think they are just such wonderful bundles of adorable happy energy.

Bonus: Another impossible choice. I used to think it would be Poseidon, for the same loving the ocean thing, but let’s be real. It’s Athena, it has always been Athena, and will never not be Athena. She is fantastic and her whole persona just fits me too well.

I complain about my hair a lot but it’s a really nice color and a lot of people pay to put in the kind of loose wave that I have naturally

My hips are great. I could hip-check anyone, fight me

My collarbones are as well-defined and graceful as seabirds in flight, they deserve a whole wing of a museum dedicated to them tbqh

I can carry a tune when I sing which is a lot better than what a lot of people can do. Also I can harmonize wonderfully.

I have a scar on my chest that looks kinda like a bird, and I think that’s pretty rad
