About the new chapter, there’s a new kingdom, which is obviously based on Mexico.
Ok, but what’s really important about this?
It’s what he’s saying. Which is obviously a reference to one of the most important historical figures in Mexico’s history (and my personal favorite):
Emiliano Zapata
He was a leader during Mexico’s Revolution who fought for the rights of the indigenous people. Specifically, their lands and fields that were snatched from them by the government. His slogan “Land and Liberty”. Of course, he left a legacy, he achieved the Agrarian Reform to be enacted and it still exists in our Constitution.
One of his most popular quotes:
“It is better to die on your feet than to live on your knees.”
So, thank you Oda for taking inspiration on this.
I started to overthink, and... do you realize how Ace is the vivid example of just because someone looks happy on the outside, you can’t really know how he/she really feels in the inside?
At Arabasta our first impressions of him was: ‘best big brother, friendly, protective, funny, perfect’, and Oda keep up showing us Ace in that way. But then on the Marineford Arc, it shows us how he really feels... ‘hate to his own existence, unworthy to be loved, fear of the people knowing who he really is and unable to understand why people care so much about him’.
And it’s so fucking sad, because when he understands that is just love, that he’s truly worthy to be loved, that his life it’s important for many people: He says, ‘I want to live’. For the first time, he appreciates his life, and that’s why his last words were to all the people who loved him, because they made a big change in himself towards life and himself (that he thought it would never happen), they made his life meant something to him and felt so happy to be alive.
What I'm kinda trying to say is: most of us are not truly aware of this, but maybe, you’re an important part of someone’s life, just for being there with them, loving them.
And please, behold Sunny’s reaction at Luffy leaving him to luck 😂
There are two types of people in this world:
The ones who remember who Oden is.
The ones who are just like Luffy and Zoro and can’t remember anything.
you can’t tell me i’m lying about this
Chopper repairing Sunny <3
Seeing how Luffy resembles Ace, it just shows how he truly is Ace’s little brother.
