@nghtlghts sent: A random text from Luz. Something about Lilith visiting today and that her old "Coven Buddy" misses her "soooooo much!". Nightingale can't help but doubt Lilith mentioned her at all, or think that Luz wasn't trying to spring a reunion on Lilith when she had no want or need to see the former Golden Guard again. Still, Nightingale...does have words to share with her. She thought Lilith was as good as dead when she flew off with Eda back at her petrification ceremony...she didn't ever think she'd be in the same situation. But Nightingale refuses to meet up on the human's terms. So now she's staking out the woods near the Owl House. Watching and waiting...And the wait is already up! Nightingale can spot that blue hair and ghastly pale skin from anywhere! Using Flapjack, she's quick to teleport behind her elder's back."AHEM," She clears her throat and...immediately loses any confidence she might have had. Poor girl's wearing a patchwork cloak to avoid being seen by scouts, she has no room to be cocky. "...You were right," she mumbles, hunching forward. "About. Belos. You were right to leave."
Lilith had received a message from Luz earlier, asking her to come over to visit. Not thinking her niece might have had any ulterior motives, she’d happily replied she would be over right after work and that perhaps they could have tea together and chat. While she was normally wary on her way to the Owl House, she was a little too preoccupied with her excitement to see everyone again to notice that someone was watching her.
There’s a strong gust of air behind her - immediately all thoughts leave her and she’s on the defensive, summoning her staff and pivoting on her heel to meet whatever threat had come for her -
“Hunter? What are YOU - ” Her sharp tone, her accusatory words are cut off before she can even finish what she meant to say -
‘You were right. About Belos. You were right to leave.’
They feel their heart drop in their chest, their eyes look over the teen - haggard, tired, and nervous, wearing tattered clothes with nothing but the staff carried in trembling hands. And there was something else - Hunter’s voice was different... It seemed a lot of things were different, now - for both of them.
For a moment, she just stares, easing her body out of its natural reaction to a presumed threat. She takes a deep breath, closing her eyes and bringing her staff close, resting her head against her palisman. When she speaks again, her voice is quiet, tired - and it’s only two words.
“...I see.”
