✥ LYSANDER CAERWYN ✥ — Task #2: Mischief Managed
WAND
Ebony “This jet-black wand wood has an impressive appearance and reputation, being highly suited to all manner of combative magic, and to Transfiguration. Ebony is happiest in the hand of those with the courage to be themselves. Frequently non-conformist, highly individual or comfortable with the status of outsider, ebony wand owners have been found both among the ranks of the Order of the Phoenix and among the Death Eaters. In my experience the ebony wand’s perfect match is one who will hold fast to his or her beliefs, no matter what the external pressure, and will not be swayed lightly from their purpose.”
Dragon Heartstring “As a rule, dragon heartstrings produce wands with the most power, and which are capable of the most flamboyant spells. Dragon wands tend to learn more quickly than other types. While they can change allegiance if won from their original master, they always bond strongly with the current owner. The dragon wand tends to be easiest to turn to the Dark Arts, though it will not incline that way of its own accord. It is also the most prone of the three cores to accidents, being somewhat temperamental.”
11 ½ in. Long “Most wands range from 9 to 14 inches, and those in between 10.5 and 12.5 inches are considered averagely sized. In contrast to what many think, owning a wand with average length does not mean the wizard or witch have average powers and would never triumph in life. Most accomplished figures in history of magic were paired to averagely sized wands. It is because these wands usually seek owners who control their instincts and calculate their acts, which makes them use their magic in appropriate ways.”
Slightly Springy “'Stable wands' include those characterized as slightly yielding, slightly springy, reasonably supple, and all swishy wands. These tend to choose owners who seek perfection in their magic and try to plan things for a long-run. Slightly yielding or springy wands can cast spells faster than most wands, so they pair well with wizards and witches of quick thinking.”
HOGWARTS HOUSE
Gryffindor — brave, courageous, chivalrous, daring, bold
As much as Gryffindors might like to pretend otherwise, their house is not free from the possibility of turning out some bad eggs. Lysander may be a chaotic, dark angel of sin, but no one can reasonably call him a coward. His whole life has been about pushing boundaries, challenging people and ideas with reckless abandon, and experimenting in bold new ways to find what makes him happiest. The last thing he thinks about is other people—if someone else is hurt by something he’s done, oh well. He doesn’t use his courage for good, but the way in which he dives head-first into his interests and passions is far more in line with Gryffindor sensibilities than those of Slytherin. And not many angels, fallen or otherwise, would be so daring as to directly challenge The Almighty and his will as frequently as Lys does. If he’d never fallen from heaven, it’s easy to see how Lys might have been a fearless warrior for the light. As it is, his fearlessness is put to use against the forces of light and in pursuit of his own selfish desires. Not like something as petty as morality would ever stop him.
PATRONUS
Husky
“Huskies are fast, energetic, and athletic - they are also adorably cute. If your Patronus is a husky, you’re likely thought of as lovable and cuddly by those who know you. Inside, though, you are a ball of energy, eager to prove yourself. At Quidditch tryouts, you’re the player who says, 'Put me anywhere you need me! I got this.' Nothing can hold you back. But despite your natural abilities, you don’t strut. You’d rather hang with friends playing frisbee than show off your trophy collection.”
Lys would probably never need to cast a patronus, but if he did, it would take a form as striking as he is himself. It might seem odd for someone like him to have a dog patronus and not, say, a peacock. But Lys and this gregarious beast go well together. Huskies are impossible to ignore: their stunning appearance turns heads wherever they go, and their boisterous personalities win them friends daily. Even experienced owners find huskies to be a handful at times. They have a lot of energy that needs to be worked off and they can easily get bored without enough attention or stimulation. If left to their own devices, they can be downright miscreants. But thoroughly sated, they are loyal dogs with bold natures who make very faithful companions. And while “faithful” isn’t ever a word one would use to describe Lys, he is loyal to the cause of the fallen angels and more than happy to put his talents to use for them.
OTHER
Amortentia — Winter Warmth Lys has never quite been able to explain why the scents of winter are so appealing to him. He’s a summer boy through and through, but for all that he loves the hottest season of the year, it’s the smells of cinnamon, cranberries, citrus, and pine that would draw him in to the love potion most, evoking images of falling snow and a warm fire, furs bundled around him and his lover. Hidden in between those cool but relaxing notes would, of course, be the scent of heavy sex. How could it not be?
Boggart — Ugliness There are very few things in the world that genuinely scare Lysander. Not bloodshed or death or gore or any of the things that would scare most people. At best, they might just gross him out a little. So of course the only thing that would genuinely reduce him to tears, force him to his knees in terror, would be something as petty as appearance. All a boggart would have to do to get to Lys would be to show himself... but as ugly and unattractive as it is possible for a living being to be. The very thought is inconceivable to the fallen angel, so seeing it right before his eyes would probably destroy him on sight.
