would you mind elaborating on compability issues Yoshiki and HIkaru have? I think I see where you're going with it, but I'd like to be sure. (also, tremendous username)
Well, first and foremost being the very different stances on murder. Not-Hikaru's instinctive response to perceived threats/things that stress it out is murder, doesn't matter who the person is so long as they are not Yoshiki, murder is the first impulse. And 'Hikaru' is very impulsive, hence why he almost murdered Yoshiki during their first argument.
On the other hand, Yoshiki is extremely not down with murder. Murder causes Yoshiki incredible psychological distress. So much so that among other things, Yoshiki has threatened to commit suicide about 'Hikaru' not understanding why murder is bad and it shouldn't kill people even after Yoshiki explained why it should not do murder.
2. Second most pressing issue is that 'Hikaru' is a monster that eats people (among other things) and Yoshiki is a people who is frequently around 'Hikaru' with his guard down. On some level Not-Hikaru wants to eat Yoshiki in-spite of his feeling for him. It's not initially much of an issue but later on Not-Hikaru starts getting pretty damn hungry for reasons and Yoshiki is just always right there looking delicious. 'Hikaru' at least acknowledges that if he can't get control of his instincts then their relationship is going to end one way or another and not well for Yoshiki.
Mush less pressing compatibility issues that come to mind being:
Rather notable differences in metaphorical sex drive and willingness to experiment during metaphorical sex. There's the impression that 'Hikaru', our sex favorable aroace king, would like to have Yoshiki inside him way more often than Yoshiki seems comfortable with. It does seem to be something that they can compromise on, but 'Hikaru' does need to work on boundaries and informed consent.
Discretion. Yoshiki is very much in the closet while 'Hikaru' is either not aware that the closet is a thing to consider or simply plans on murdering anyone who might make shit a problem which ... re: most pressing compatibility issue.
Future goals in life. Yoshiki should leave the countryside, at the very least he is aware that he'd have more opportunity to find acceptance and community in the city. 'Hikaru' has different plans for his own future. [And its probably not a good idea for Not-Hikaru to move to the city with even more proximity to humans between the attracts impurities thing and the whole instinctively would like to eat humans thing.]
On some level Yoshiki is still hung up on Hikaru. 'Hikaru' has very strong feelings about that and it has caused some friction in their relationship.
