What about niblit then? Do you ship them?
I do, but kinda super low-key casual, and if I’m being 100% honest, I probably ship it mostly for the awful feels (like of him finding out about her death in the newspaper/through the grapevine like losing three of his partners/comrades/teammates wouldn’t have been crappy enough on its own, making one a romantic interest is just cruel); that said, I’m not very serious about it as a thing, probably because while it’s cute to imagine it, it’s not as if the canon gives us a whole lot to go on.
I mean, we know very, very little about Moblit except that he takes a lot of shit from people he seems to deem worthy of taking shit from (Hange), and takes no shit from people he doesn’t deem worthy (Sannes). The dude was in on the torture scenes, which levihan fandom conveniently seems to forget about (which annoys me greatly), so he’s very resilient. And there’s the drinking, too, which could be a jab at ‘having to deal with’ Hange, but could also be a testament to other things. I mean, in one of the streepass rain things Mike catches Gelgar with alcohol and is very understanding about it, but it’s made pretty clear he drinks because of his nerves/stress; it’s totally possible Moblit does the same thing--or to deal with PTSD.
On the flip side we have next to nothing about Nifa except that she’s VERY trusted (she was let in on Big Meeting with Pixis and Erwin to take notes); she was also trusted to deliver messages and stuff I think, too... And she comes off very friendly--even, right before her death, with Levi. I get the idea she’s a nice, earnest sort of person...but I shouldn’t be surprised then, that she’s being given red hair for S2, because that’ll tie her into Isabel (and possibly also Petra, since Isayama likes the number three so much).
So I can see them having nice moments or whatever...but I can’t really say that I ship it based on anything canon gives us in particular. They probably got along pretty well, but that’s nothing new or surprising, so. Just bullshit speculation for feels--but I can admit as much. LOL.
