Ever read a fic so good that it makes you wanna message your sister (who got into watching F1 last year) like "hey, do you know what rpf is"? Because yea
Completely forgot to update Tumblr, but this week I started my four-week ceramics workshop! It's pretty much free use of the space (except wheels) with an expert on hand to help out, so I've decided I'll probably divide the course into two weeks of building and two weeks of underglaze painting — and I think we get a final glaze week at the very end too.
These are some wee votive/wall-hanging things I made at the end of the first session — my plan is to paint eye portraits on them using underglaze like I use watercolour or gouache! I also made an intentionally wonky pot as my first attempt at slab building, but that's not exciting enough to show.
Next week my plan is to make myself my dream ceramic paint/mixing palette (still haven't planned it out, I'll probably just go with the flow), and also to make some more of the wall hangings — this time I'm gonna cut out a paper pattern to see if I can get them perfectly symmetrical, and also I'd like to try make some with more organic shapes.
All in all, very excited to be learning a new craft!

good book day: found the diary of favourite doomed watercolourist (among other things) Edward Wilson in a second-hand bookshop, and spent nearly two hours in a different bookshop reading about buildings whilst they served me tea :) also bought a book about sex robots and capitalism from the second bookshop (not pictured)
