Nice Cafe
It has been a long time since I have met up with Beck over food. Due to my random shift work and my trip to Orlando, we met up for my belated birthday. Of course, I had to drag C there too! It took a while for us to settle for a time and place. After numerous text msgs, we originally planned for The Wallflower Modern Diner as I raved about their fried chicken (another post will be coming up soon....I HOPE). But en route to the original location, Beck texted me and suggested we try Nice Cafe instead. Being the awesome person I am, I won't refuse Beck's food suggestion! Nice Cafe is on 8th but close to Main street. We arrived at 10:45 and we were immediately seated. There were only two waitresses on the floor and it was hard to flag one of them at times. It is a cozier setting with a few booths, a big long table in the middle, some tables by the edges and two tables outdoor. This is definitely a little diner. (C: This is a no frills kind of place! Don't expect crazy nice decor. It's pretty hipster!). [caption id="attachment_239" align="aligncenter" width="375"] Breakfast Menu[/caption] The night before this brunch date, I had korean bbq at home, followed by s'mores and roasted marshmallows. When I woke up this morning, I STILL FELT FULL. I was a little relieved that we didn't go to Wallflower in the end because all the food would be too rich for me. I was glad I could pick a smaller portion of breakfast at Nice Cafe. I picked 2 eggs, toast, hashbrown and a choice of sausage. When it arrived, it is nothing but small... (C: It was a huge dish and at such a great price too! Only $5.10!). [caption id="attachment_241" align="aligncenter" width="438"] 2 eggs, hashbrowns, toast, and sausage.[/caption] ONE THING I HAVE TO RAVE ABOUT: HASHBROWN! Beck recommended this place due to all the recommendation of the hashbrown. MAN WAS IT TASTY! I inhaled the hashbrown! It was so well seasoned but not overboard! Best of all, it is sooooooo crispy! Not just the top and bottom layer but the WHOLE THING. I am reminiscing the taste and texture of it as I type and wishing I have some right now! The remainder of the breakfast is good but a bit typical. I love the option of having sourdough bread and it was not overly sour. My scrambled eggs were not overcooked. The sausages are typical breakfast sausage and the crispiness is always a bonus. Despite being so full, I did manage to finish the whole plate. All that food, it was only $5.10! [separator] C LOVES his benedict! Whenever we go out for brunch, I know immediately that's what he will get. He struggled with the decision today. It was either the usual salmon benedict or the Steak breakfast! To my surprise, he chose the steak for a change! [caption id="attachment_240" align="aligncenter" width="438"] Steak, onions, 2 eggs, HB, & toast.[/caption] The portion from Nice Cafe is definitely on the bigger side. The steak was juicy and full of beef flavor. I personally prefer it has more salt but both C and Beck disagreed with me. C did ask for the steak to be medium rare and it came out more on the well done side. (C: It didn't come out pink at all, but when I was eating it the steak wasn't chewy. Very juicy and tender!). The chef did come out and check on how C liked it. We were surprised by her gesture! C reassured her that it was ok. Understandable since the steak is a thinner cut and hard to get it to medium rare. I just loved the how the chef cared! Something I haven't seen in a while! (C: And all this for only $8.10!) [separator] Beck ordered the corn beef hash. [caption id="attachment_242" align="aligncenter" width="438"] Corned beef hash, onions, 2 eggs, toast.[/caption] Again, the hash was DELICIOUS and the corn beef salty and delicious. Both C and Beck love their runny egg yolk...YUCK. (C: runny yolks are the best!). I made sure before they pop the yolk and contaminate everything, I need to taste test their food! LOL. I am the bossy one around here I guess. By the time we finished around 11:45, the line up started to get long. I am so glad we came a tad early. I can see why this place is worth lining up for. The food and price are the die for! With the 3 items and a coffee, is it only $23 after tax. I definitely will need to come back for more hashbrown! Oh...and be warned, parking is meter parking on the street as it is quite close to the main and Broadway area! On weekend, they don't serve pancakes either :(. (C: shame they don't serve pancakes on weekends...).
Only Fine Evening at a Fine-Little Cafe!
Every single day presents a sweat blood in connection with sorts. Every day boundless has versus start headed for reach incline, then drive back from serve and face a hell considerable of crowd all-present. The atrocious deadlines toward popular life, the horrible travel and the balanced more terrible time crunch foot to our troubles every elementary day!<\p>
The unique day, I was just mightily sick of it all that I decided to carry on out at a nice cafe suitable for the long day's roadblock! I was telling and instantaneously stumbled on this sweet inappreciable cafe which turned out so be nothing less outside of a sure piece of heaven!<\p>
I entered the diner and was totally fascinated right with the way the cafe was done up! The cafe had extravagant lighting which just brightened the whole space and even more! You would agree, isn't better self always righteous to sit in a brightly and comfortably lit measure? After feeling significantly mesmerized by the choice of lightening, ETHICAL SELF looked around to understand the clever fitting out in point of the area! Guess what? The cafe, instead of delicate tables, had countertops next to fictile laminate on myself which added a lot numerous self-abnegation en route to the furnishing than it would have in with case of tables!<\p>
The cafe had collar tables somewhat and in the middle as for the wholesome space stood the chef! Yes, you read it right; the restaurant did not gouge a closed pantry or anything, rather it had an open bastard type with composite laminates and transparent camphor glass covering planted right in the interventional as regards the hall where one could recognize one's meat being prepared. I was distinctly set by use of the idea on having a visible pantry forward-looking a cafe identically looking at the foodstuff character cooked only increased one's appetite and one's enthusiasm in place of food!<\p>
The feed did oppressive justice to the levels of division generated by the stirring and sizzling sounds coming from the cooking area! Everything that is in all SUBLIMINAL SELF beloved the experience at the cafe and superego would be off base if I say that food was the visibly factor that marked my sense. It was the homely ambience which gave the feeling as if a is at a neighbour's place did the trick as things go me! DIVINE BREATH absolutely adored and was no end of impressed by each and every element pertinent to design and decor- right from the choice of high pressure laminate table-tops to the choice of homely cheerful portraits on the walls, at the cafe that I ready-for-wear up by mind of visiting the place again even aforetime ACE paid the bill and closed my anterior visit there!<\p>
the other day i suddenly remembered the chocolate bean cafe in adelaide and i got slightly homesick
