I feel like in not a captain au Sid is still has most of his hardware (at least in the skill awards area) and he's def been to olympics/worlds/etc. plus shattuck and world juniors even if he wasn't a captain there either. Not the all star game tho. He's not visible or popular enough. I'm also thinking about how his non!pens former teammates see him. If they all see him as aloof or if he's bonded with some of them. Mostly bc I can't bare the idea of Sid being completely alone for 10+ years. 1/5?

I def see Jack Johnson as one of the only ppl who sees Sid as the shy but sweet wonder that he is. Very ride or die. Sid was shy at Shattuck but it wasnt bad until juniors. Jack wants Sid traded to CBJ. Hes always ready to fight the Pens for treating Sid badly. CBJ isnt great to Sid on the ice but theyre better than a lot of other teams are. The first time Tanger or Geno tries to drop gloves for Sid bc a CBJ player trips Sid (it was an accident!) Jack intervenes and yells at the poor rookie 2/5?

Sid had a teammate he was close to his rookie year but he got traded. They still hang out occasionally after games. Once some teammates saw Sid with him and then confronted Sid about it afterwards. Sid ended up more closed off and there were some nasty trade rumors. It doesnt help that Sids friends on other teams always ask him why he stays with the Pens when he’s unhappy. Sid sadly is convinced that even though he has friends there, a new team would hate him worse than the Pens. 3/5Someone said Sid and Nicky are secretly besties and I feel like they ran into each other at the olympics while hiding from their teams and just sort of bonded about feeling like the odd one out on their teams. They’re both silent and aloof but it’s to protect their soft center and they talk about their dumb crushes on their Russian captains. When Geno asks Sid out the first time (after they get over the misunderstanding) Sid immediately calls Nicky to cry at him and ask for date advice 4/5-

Tumblr gave me an error when I tried to send this last night: When Nicky and Ovi start getting serious Sid is the first person Nicky tells. Theyre very sweet together but they keep their friendship quiet bc they don't want attention. Also Nicky is Sids only friend who hasnt tried to get him to ask for a trade. Nicky understands why Sid sticks with the Pens even when he's unhappy there. Finally Nicky gave Geno the shovel talk and it's one of the few times Geno has actually feared for his life 5/5
