“Nick, there is nowhere we’re going to eat all of this,” Trixie insisted, laughing, “This is so much. What were we thinking?” She joked.

“Alright handsome, do you think you’re ready to hold down the fort by yourself? I have to go and meet an author who is meant to be doing a signing here but wants lunch to meet and arrange things rather than coming here,” Jonah explained, “I mean you basically just have to restock shelves and serve customers which you already do but since you haven’t been left here by yourself yet, I have to ask. Will you be good or do you want me to see if Camille can come in too?”

“Care to partake?” Trixie asked her brother with a sly smile, “Come on, how often would we get to drink hard liquor back home? I was sick of champagne by the time I left.”

Trixie had seen the figure from behind and was trying to get a good look at his face in order to figure out whether it was who she thought it was. She sipped on her drink and tilted her head, “Nick?” She asked as she caught a glimpse of the side of his face when she was closer. She smiled a little, “It’s really you. What are you doing in The Leaky Cauldron?”

“What? I need something to do, I can’t just sit here,” Jonah said, shelving some new books. he was freaking out. This was not a situation that a recently recovered addict should be in. If he didn’t shelve books, his hands would be shaking and he’d be jonesing for a fix, “And it’s not like there’s much else we can do.”

“Nicky, have you noticed something off with Lex lately?” Anna asked. There was no harm in asking. Maybe she was just making things up in her head because she was worried about them but if someone else had noticed, maybe she wasn’t, “Not... all the time. Just when something sudden happens, like a jar smashing for example. Does he suddenly start acting different?”

“Happy birthday!” Trixie exclaimed after she approached her brother. She had sent him a present or two over the years, though under her current initials, but this year she could spend his birthday with him and she wasn’t going to miss that opportunity. She held out a pile of three books to him, not wrapped but tied together with a fancy ribbon so he could see the spines and a card tucked into it, “Some new books I’ve discovered since the last time we had a birthday together, I’ve been saving them for this occasion.”
