I may have been quite critical of Paul McCartney in the 80’s, but they found him – quite a paradox – succesfully lost. One bright spot might have been Сно́ва в СССР, a collection of covers that was released in the Soviet Union first in a symbolic gesture. Personally, I think he could’ve released this LP in the Yugoslavia as well, but I get why he chose only USSR. Still, the disc did continue McCartney’s stupor of the 80’s. Mind you, he’s energetic, but one has a hunch he tries to do what Lennon did with his Rock’N’Roll. Then again, Lennon was still on his mind as McCartney looked at the songs they played together before Beatles and decided to make them his own. Was this a way of reaching his old cohort? One can answer this in an affirmative manner.

Más motores. "Dancing The Night Away", versión larga, del debut homónimo "The Motors" (Virgin, 1977). Gran tema con un sonido que hace bueno el nombre del grupo: potencia, gran desarrollo y dinámica recia y épica, en versión extendida mejor. La parte inicial tiene algo del Bruce Springsteen de "Born To Run". Por momentos están ahí-ahí del AOR, pero del mejor AOR.

Robert John 'Mutt' Lange did not really become associated with any sort of genre at all, he worked in many of them. However, I would claim he did make his mark first known in the collaborations with a multitude of musicians that introduced the 80's in the late 70's. For instance, he helmed The Motors' debut and you can get what I was trying to say by listening to a tune from there. Yes, they sound like a lot of the groups during that time, which somehow overlapped both punk and pop. Of course, we can claim these musicians combined the two worlds that didn't seem to intersect this much, but the reality showed this might only be nonsense. I mean, The Motors had the propulsion of punk, yet they admire the hooks of pop.
