A few months ago I was asked to photograph Nick Hand, a Bristol based graphic designer and creator of Slowcoast, for Another Escape magazine.
Of course I was delighted to be asked. I've long admired Nick's Slowcoast project, which started in 2009 when he cycled around the coast of Wales, England and Scotland. Along the way he stopped and talked to artisans and craftspeople about their work, life and passion. These meetings were documented in the form of 'soundslides' and posted on his Slowcoast website. In 2010, feeling a 'pang for more', he made a similar trip around the coast of Ireland and then in 2011 he published Conversations on the Coast, which brought 20 of these stories together in a beautiful little book.
The new issue of Another Escape features an interview with Nick about his Slowcoast project and his more recent adventures along the Hudson Valley and on the Isle of Skye. It's well worth checking out, you can buy your copy here.
