Some good news for 2020! You all remember the teen, Nick Sandmann, who a lot of left-leaning people hated simply because he wore a MAGA hat and smiled at a native American drumming in his face? This happened last year over the summer, I believe. Apparently he's been winning all of his defamation lawsuits against major news outlets who deliberately botched their coverage on this incident. He has 4 more major news outlets to fight over their botched coverage of what happened and can likely win up to $800 million from all 6 lawsuits. He's already settled with CNN and Washington Post! :)

The Washington Post on Friday agreed to settle a monster $250 million lawsuit filed by Covington Catholic High School student Nick Sandmann over its botched coverage of his 2019 encounter with a Native American elder.

Sandmann declared the victory in a tweet on his 18th birthday. It’s unclear how much the newspaper settled for.

This doesn’t surprise anyone who is black.

White people saying, “That is NOT what happened. Watch the whole video please,” about the racist white boys wearing MAGA hats from Covington Catholic High School shouldn’t be surprising to anyone.

White people will say “You need watch the whole video” even after seeing unarmed black people gunned down by the police, as if there’s some surprise ending where the victim begs to be shot to death.

The white people who will drop everything they’re doing to say “THAT WASN’T RACIST” are the same ones who would have instantly called the police if a crowd of 200 young black men showed up wearing Black Lives Matter hats. And God help them if they were wearing Malcolm X hats.

MAGA hats are the new Confederate flag. The new white KKK hood. The new symbol of prideful white supremacy. Black people have never been able to gather in large numbers to protest injustice without the state showing up in riot gear.

White teens like Nick Sandmann will always have the chance to tell their side of the story. Black children like Tamir Rice and Trayvon Martin rarely ever do.

It is a deeply ingrained part of white culture to equivocate and make excuses for obvious racism. It’s a great example of the enduring myth of white innocence: always presume pure intentions and give the benefit of the doubt - to white people.

Because many white people believe that the racism they are denying will somehow help to negate their own complicity in a racist society.
