Cat and Dog
The times when Henry was left to his own devices in Nick's New York flat were few and far between, it was rare that Henry was in New York and the American, not. However, business had called Nick away to Las Angeles or some equally miserable city on the other side of the country, and Henry was in the New York flat, mostly, alone.
Perkins had checked in periodically, Henry had coerced the other man into a night of drinking and watching American football (which had largely ended in Henry still believing that it was an idiotic and pointless sport), but the bodyguard never stayed long. So Henry was left to fill the time in his own ways, there were a few improvements made to the flat next door which was supposed to be Henry's but he rarely used, but at the end of the day, Henry found himself sprawled on Nick's sofa, sipping scotch and watching whatever was on the telly. During this time, the only other occupant of the flat would come and watch with him.
That occupant being the cat, Dude.
Dude and Henry had a largely neutral relationship, an unspoken agreement to keep each other in respectable graces. Dude didn't rub himself all over Henry's things getting hair everywhere and in turn, when Henry was out of his suits, the feline would get all the attention he wanted and deserved. This arrangement suited them both, Henry's fingers needed to move and what better purpose to put them to than raking through the soft fur?
The relationship between them seemed to improve from an easy understanding to a companionship during Nick's absence, and in the silence. Henry, found himself talking to Dude as the animal followed him around the flat. Dude was a rather brilliant conversationalist, he would input with a tilt of the head, a meow or a purr, and every so often, if the Englishman erred particularly poorly, he would be awarded with an indignant glare from the feline.
Thoughts on Mister Kenning?
Who?
When did you realize you loved Kenning?
I'm not sure. Somewhere between his utter blasé regarding my peculiarities and when I saw how gorgeous his arse was in Italian Wool.
Kenning needs a haircut, doesn't he?
It’s not so bad. See above for his idea of a ‘hair style’ at uni.
Procrastinating on replies.
