Travel Blog ... Nicon 2023!

This was very not planned. I visited the Nicon in Hanover for a few hours on the 7th October (Con Saturday).

My reason was mainly to cheer for the dear Lotus.Diva (Insta, I know you have tumblr but I am not sure which handle?) who attended the Cosplay Contest.

I went as Nea and I learned I really need to restyle that wig. Nea is an easy character and I wanted to get rid of the negative Connichi vibes the cosplay had for me.

This is actually the second time for me to go to the NiCon. The first time was ... I think in 2008? I was there as journalist back then. Yes, you read that right.

I worked for an online magazine back in the day and got access to some conventions for writing reports, the NiCon was one of them. I just briefly remember the details from back then, as my coworker and I didn't stay that long. It's wild to remember that time, there have been so many things I did for the community in my country and all. I quit that job (it was just volunteered work) as I started my apprenticeship as teacher and I lacked the time to continue.

Quick travel to Hanover, I arrived a bit before the contest started, actually found the people I was looking for rather fast and sat down in the contest room to secure a seat.

The former performance was a musician who does gaming related songs? I.. think he was okay, it's just truly not my genre of music.

Guess here I am a bit pissed as we were ALL send out of the room before the contest started for whatever reason and it was hard to aquire a seat (thats why the majority even watched the musician in before... sigh). And you couldn't watch the contest when you didn't have a seat.

I have zero knowledge of Genshin Impact but I had to laugh, it was very fun. Congrats on scoring 2nd place!

The overall contest was interesting to watch, the amount of courage to step on a stage to perform. Kudos for that.

I wasn't able to watch the full contest as somehow my brain started games on me and I noticed I needed to get out, I just hope I didn't miss too much.

I explored the area and con a bit. The park is really nice, I didn't remember it at all to be honest. It's a great location for a convention this size.

The artist alley and vendor room were on the smaller size and some were indeed also at the Connichi and Wolfscon, therefore not much for me to find and buy. I wasn't planning to stay too long as my dog isn't used to hold up too long and my parents weren't home to help out. Whoops.

I have to thank you for the time we walked around, I truly missed the times of just socializing through linking the same series and just sharing hobbies like cosplay. There was even a Lenalee Cosplayer, you gather them all, haha.

I love how supportive you are and even when I just stood there most of the time I can tell this day was great and I enjoyed it a lot. I'm looking forward to meet you and your partner again next weekend.

I am not sure if I would attend the Nicon again though as the program isn't my taste but it was fun to revisit it after all those years!
