There were a lot of things that were weird about how successful μ’s had gotten.
Of course, Nico knew they deserved it. It was a dream come true for her, but it wasn’t as if she had any reason to be surprised by it. They really were that good, after all. Why shouldn’t they be famous? Why shouldn’t they win Love Live?
But sometimes the reality of it still hit her pretty hard. Being recognized when she was shopping for her family’s dinner never stopped being a rush. Girls stopping her in the streets to ask for a photo always put a spring in her step. And being mentioned on idol forums made her grin from ear to ear.
None of those held a candle to this latest shocking symptom of their popularity, though.
Frankly, when Nico saw the card she’d thought it was a joke for a second. It just seemed so… implausible. She knew intellectually that they were on the same level as A-Rise, of course. They’d beaten them to get to Love Live, after all. But part of her had never really accepted that. A-Rise was a famous group. Nico had been a fan of them practically since they’d been founded. They weren’t what had gotten her interested in becoming an idol, of course, but in a way, they had been what made Nico believe that it was even possible to be popular as a school idol. To her, they were a shining beacon of what it meant to be a successful Love Live idol group. When Tsubasa had remembered that Nico had sent her flowers, she’d been bowled over.
And yet, here she was, holding a bouquet that she had just been handed by a deliveryman and staring at the card in her hands. From your biggest fan, Tsubasa Kira.
That was unbelievable enough, but it was the second part of the card that really crossed the line into impossible.
Call me! followed by what was, unmistakably, a cellphone number.
“Um,” Nico said. “Is this… really from Tsubasa?”
The deliveryman gave her a confused look. “I don’t know who sent it, ma’am,” he said. “Just who to deliver it to. Can you sign here, please?”
“Right. Sorry.”

Nico clenched her phone tightly in her hands, staring down at the number entered into it.
She had to try at least, right? Even if it was just someone pranking her, she had to find out.
Taking a deep breath, she pressed call, and held her breath. One ring. Two. Three. Four.
“Hello?”
...Unbelievable.
“Tsubasa?” she asked. As if she needed any clarification. As if she could mistake that voice, UTX’s angel of song.
“Oh! Nico!” Tsubasa said, and Nico’s knees went weak at the happiness in her voice. “Did you get my flowers?”
“Y-Yeah, I got them just now,” Nico said.
“And you called me right away? My, aren’t you eager?”
“Of course!” Nico said. “I mean, the Tsubara Kira sent me flowers? I’m honoured.”
Nico heard Tsubasa chuckle. “Well, the Nico Yazawa sent me flowers for years,” she said. “And I am a fan of μ’s, so why not send flowers to my favourite member?”
“F-Favourite member?” Nico squeaked.
“Yep,” Tsubasa said, Nico heard her take a deep breath. “So.. how would you like to get some coffee sometime?”
As Nico fainted backwards onto her bed, her phone dropping from her limp hands, she could faintly hear Tsubasa’s voice coming from it.
