Im calling these Skrunkly Cats
Found this little freak in the woods outside my house and now it won’t stop doing this
It's my first time adding mixing colours like this, still getting the hang of layering but I think it's... decent....enough. Also nose, a bit too big but Nose, things get much cuter with nose
There's a story accompanying this one, I'm not sure I'm ready to tell it yet... So let me just say my favourite part of the process is when the head I add a detail and the head suddenly stops being just a weird blob of wool and starts actually looking like a Head.
Had some fun with this one
Next up is.... David Destiel Elizabeth Strider! Yes, that is his real name, his mom denies it now but I will always remember. Anyway, while I was down south with some family to escape the heat up north, my aunt's birthday was approaching so I decided to felt her dog.
NGL one of my favourite aspects of this medium is how Fucked it can look during the process, these are some of my favourites. You may notice the legs look a bit funky, this is because he has Dachshund legs on a Big dog body, he actually looks quite funky when he walks. It also meant I had to Ignore a lot about what I had previously learnt on how to make proportioned animals, I tihnk these photos show the third version of the legs because all others looked Too Long and Normal, yes I'm calling him Abnormal, it's both funny and Cute.
With Ears and more muscle he starts looking much more Doglike instead of whatever fucked up cryptid the first ones were, looking back the ears are weirdly shaped, but I used a different method back then with different tools; I didn't have a brush mat so I just used a medium density foam square I got on a furniture store, they told me it was High density but looking at it now… this shit aint high density. Anyway that's why the ears were kinda funky
Lookit that face, I should experiment more with paints and stuffs, it mixes surpringly well with wool, at least white wool like this, it adds a Ton of life to the eyes just relatively little detail. This is also when I started experimenting with the tail method and it is Delightful! It's basically attaching a bunch of long strands to the tail base and then with scissors trimming it into shape, then you just bend it a bit and it looks Hella realistic
New Friend Incoming! I'm trying something new for this one: Instead of making a wool core that's dense and shit, I'm making the core out of that synthethic cotton they use as guts for plushies, then I add a layer of wool on top so when it's finished it's Squishy. I know nobody reads these anyway but I'm keeping the identity secret for a bit just because I think it's funny
All that's missing now is the Mane.... and some other anatomy details but that's minor
We have to leave home anyway, maybe you'll get your mane in a new home, for now it is time to take the last bus away from here.
