Brother: I find it weird that one guy calls the other guy Jim. They are both named Jim. I hope they just talk about James all game. Me: Nice cross in from James, right, Jim? Right, Jim? Brother: In St. James’ Park.

Later, I sent my brother an article about the James family:

Me: I’d been wondering if Lauren and Reece were the first [female-male] siblings to get an England call up. Anyway, I wonder when that bottom photo was taken, because how tall is Mr. James?! Brother: Let’s go to Jim and Jim at St. James’ Park to find out.

European Fish Weeks 2012

End overfishing or fishing will be over!

Overfishing is emptying the oceans of fish. This summer, European Fish Weeks is the opportunity to tell politicians to, “end overfishing or fishing will be over". Politicians are responsible for making the decisions that will end overfishing; citizens have the responsibility to encourage and support them in making these decisions. European Fish Weeks is an opportunity to make your voice heard.

Get involved

EU fisheries can be fixed and you can be part of the solution. Make your voice heard by getting involved in Fish Weeks activities near you. Events are listed below and in our events section (on a Google map). 

You can also organise your own event and create a human fish shape to end overfishing. For some creative ideas on what to do, download the fish shape and description.

The Blue-Hulled Ferretti MY Iris

Visiting the elegant blue-hulled Ferretti MY IRIS is always as much a pleasure as surprise at her wonderful appearance; now eight years old she still looks like new. Much of her interior IS new, from carpets to paintwork and many unseen touches to enhance living aboard. Like her stablemate, Proteus, chief among these is her air conditioned interior, with Advanced High Ozone shock Treatment which eliminates mould and bacteria, leaving the cabins smelling fresh and clean, without using any chemical cleaning products. On deck her innovation continues and includes a recreational tank-free diving system for underwater exploration without using scuba tanks, air being controlled aboard. At 30m/100ft her accommodation for 12 is complemented by her all-Greek, all English-speaking crew, including two stewardesses whose friendly, discrete attention ensures a steady flow of repeat clients. Personal Thoughts About SY CALLISTO

SY CALLISTO is in fine condition after 17 years in the charter fleet in Greece. The fact that she’s a traditional Swan helps, of course, but her prodigious maintenance programme cuts no corners; kept as she is virtually without regard to cost.

She also has the distinction of her clients still being served by her original stewardess. Dina is certainly the longest serving crew I know on a charter yacht, who continues to smile gracefully, cheerfully dispensing everything from advice on the best places to snorkel (she knows them all!) to the wonderful food emanating from the chef’s galley.

Review of S/Y AMADEUS and Crew

With sailing yachts like AMADEUS it’s often difficult to see where fortunes have been sucked up in maintenance. Since I last visited this 110ft/25m Dynamique Sloop a couple of years ago, tens of thousands of dollars have been spent on upgrades, the majority of it last winter, virtually none visible except newly painted topsides.

 It took a very enthusiastic stewardess to pinpoint new equipment for me, not that a charter client would notice, and rightly so. All that matters is everything works.

Having recognized several faces among her five crew, it’s clear they stay in their posts for years; always a good sign - and eating lunch in the shade of her vast guest cockpit is always a treat. More details can be found here.
