Night Howler [4]: Bucky x Reader

Summary: As a merciless hitman and thief by night, the Night Howler gives Bucky Barnes a run for his money. He depends on you for his cups of joy and your friendly smiles. His only problem is: he’s too busy going after this guy to be with you. It all goes downhill when you’re caught in the cross-fire.

Warnings/Themes: Humor, profanity, angst, fluff, character death, blood/violence/gore, Dark/sensitive topics, manipulation.

With a cock of its pistol, the Night Howler watches as its next victim moves within the building adjacent to it.

Innocent, she seems.

Good, it thinks. She’s just gonna make it easy.

Calibrating the girl’s intended walking route, it stalks back from the window. As soon as she gets back in sight, the Night Howler’s skin buzzes with energy.

With smooth vigor, the assassin rushes forward, lightning surrounding it in its wake. The window crashes open as it propels itself using its rappel.

Heels facing towards its destination, it crashes into the victim’s window, causing a similar fate with the glass.

“Oh my god!” She shrieks, backing up frantically towards her door. “Please - fuck - leave me alone!”

She watches in horror as tendrils of electricity flail from around the monster, hitting her side table lamp and bursting the bulb. They slap against the carpet, burning signature marks into it as it walks forward calmly.

“Fuck - fuck - fuck,” she panics, looking around for any weapon in reach. Unfortunately, she doesn’t keep any in this room.

With a curious head tilt, the Night Howler lunges forward, making a grab for her.

The city lights do little-to-nothing in masking the red frustration and anger on the Soldier’s face.

“This is [Y/N]. Sorry, I can’t come to the phone right now. If you just -”

Bucky nearly crushes the phone in his hand as he ends the call. This is the sixth time he’s tried to reach you, and normally, you’ll pick up in a heartbeat, no matter where you were. If you were busy, you would have at least sent him a pre-typed message stating so.

Something was definitely wrong, and he has a feeling he knows what happened.

When he gets ahold of that sick monster, he’s gonna tear it apart limb-from-limb.

“Relax, Barnes. Focus on getting her back.” Natasha tries to soothe him as much as she’s trying to do so for herself. “It’d be stupid to kill her. It’s smarter than that.”

“Really, Nat? Because it just shot an innocent woman last night!” If you weren’t dead, Bucky can imagine how terrified and lonely you must feel. It must’ve stuffed you in a cell somewhere, leaving you to rot until it can negotiate with him. Well, it certainly wasn’t gonna get a negotiation tonight.

“Is he ready?”

Bucky stands atop a window-lift, readying his guns and knives.

“The doppelganger’s been planted. He’s next on the list. I’m sure of it. Night Howler won’t see us coming.”

With a quick grunt of assurance, Bucky pries open the window, shoving his knife in between an opening and popping it apart. After slipping inside, he shuts it, making his way deeper into the dark apartment.

He watches the creature across the living room, who stalks towards the bookroom. Inside, a hologram figure innocently scribbles away on a journal.

The Night Howler freezes, confused as to why it doesn’t budge upon seeing it.

As soon as it turns in realization, Bucky’s behind it, slamming his elbow into the juncture behind its neck.

He hears it groan, staggering forward to regain focus. It’s the most human way he’s ever seen it move.

“You’ve been a real pain in my ass,” he snaps, snatching the Glock from its waist.

The enemy stands there, breathing heavily before crouching low. With a swift kick, it sends Bucky toppling to the ground. However, he’s ready this time, and he’s not letting it escape his grasp. Before it can flee, Bucky yanks it down by the ankle.

Sparks ignite the Night Howler as it attempts to throw Bucky off, but the metal-armed man smirks.

Tony insisted he wore a rubber suit underneath his usual combat gear. For once, the billionaire’s ideas were right.

Astonished at its failed attack, the Night Howler kicks desperately, to which Bucky easily dodges. In order to stifle all movement, Bucky puts all of his weight down, holding the target’s legs underneath his knees while his metal-arm bars the top of its throat. It can’t headbutt nor can it boot him in the chest.

Bucky wastes no time, shoving it down when it tries sitting up.

“Where the fuck is she? Where did you take her?”

Its sudden stillness tells Bucky that it has no clue who he could be talking about.

“[Y/N]. Where the hell did you put her?”

When realization dawns on it, the monster struggles again, trying to pull his arm off of it.

“I’m gonna rip this mask right off of you and smash your head in until you tell me,” Bucky threatens, holding onto the helmet with his flesh hand. Its creepy smile does nothing in scaring him tonight.

It shakes its head vehemently, terrified of what’s to come.

When Bucky pulls the helmet from over its head, he’s immobilized by the sight.

“[Y/N]?”

You glare, baring your teeth violently in his direction. “Get the hell off of me, Bucky,” you growl.

Bucky’s face flushes in rage. “What the fuck are you playing at?!”

He releases your throat, keeping his weight over your legs. “Who put you up to this?”

“Get the fuck off!”

“Not until you tell me what the hell is going on!”

“Barnes. Why am I seeing you and your girlfriend through that window? Where’s the Night Howler?”

Bucky ignores the message, instead, he grows irritated by your squirming. In an effort to make you stop, he slams his metal fist into the ground beside your head. The loud ‘bang’ and the magnitude of the floor’s shaking does the trick. You look up with wide eyes. “You need to go -”

He chews at his bottom lip, shaking his head tersely. “I called you. Several times. You didn’t answer.”

Suddenly, your own anger bites back. “Gee, I wonder why! Why the fuck would I tell you that I’m the Night Howler - The thing you’ve been hunting down for months?!”

“Because I trusted you!”

You flinch at his raised voice.

“I trusted you,” he murmurs in a quieter tone.

His sincere pain causes involuntary tears to roll down your cheeks. You betrayed him. You could never take that back. “Bucky…”

He can’t seem to look you in the eye. If he does, he’s afraid he’ll crumble. Leaning in closer to your side, he brushes his lips against the temple of your ear. “Who’s making you do this? I just want to help.”

You bite back a sob. “You can’t help. Don’t help me.”

“Doll…”

“Bucky, just - please, get off of me.”

“Bucky, keep her detained.”

His weight shifts off at your request, allowing you to slip from underneath him. The both of you stand in front of each other.

His careful gaze stares you down, a silent plea hanging on the edge of his lips. “Don’t do this,” he begs. Don’t leave.

Your expression hardens. Behind your two eyes are nothing but endless voids.

You anticipate his next move and you don’t allow him to grab you.

After absorbing the pressure and energy from the room, you back up, hand pressed against the glass.

Before he can reach you, one tap sends the window shattering. Bucky’s blinded by white light for a split-second.

When he comes to, you’re out of sight.

Evil Mun time

What if during the Night Howler case Clawhauser gets infected by it and becomes feral? picture this: Clawhauser and Bogo have been dating for a long time at this point.

When Clawhauser gets turned feral Bogo’s heart breaks to see the love of his life like this. So Bogo tries to get Clawhauser to lock him up so he doesn’t hurt anyone but during a fight Bogo gets his throat slashed by the cheetah

Bogo using what strength he has pulls out his gun and shoots his former love several times before falling to the ground.

Clawhauser collapses and is bleeding heavily from the wounds, Bogo crawls over to him and takes his paw with his dying breath he says “I’m sorry...my love...” before dying from his wounds followed shortly after by Clawhauser

I drew these for Father's Day, which was about a week ago. It shows the Wolfshade, Lumikrank, and Gulperjack fankids when they were children. So happy late Father's Day! ^^

First pic: It looks like Night Howler is rocking at his own concert for his father Wolfgang, alongside Nocturnia and Andrew to attend for Father's Day, it seems Wolfgang is impressed! ^^

Second pic: Boltclank here has made a little invention of his own to give to his father Dr. Krankcase on Father's Day, and we see Blacklight and Sunny Star, and Krankcase likes the gift too.

Third pic: Chow Down has a huge barrel of soda for his father the Gulper, much to Magma Blob's surprise, but Gulper really loves having soda from his boys on Father's Day!
