YES all your thoughts on the situation are mine. Like the main guy in charge said that they never planned for them to actually end up together which I can accept but the way they did it was just so dumb. They originally thought hunter couldn't do the last two episodes and honestly the ending they had for them then would've been better than what they pulled out after they found out he could come back. It's just so thrown together and messy?? For all of them??

Yup – it was just a let-down after everything that had already happened in the season. And the whole lying/everything else that followed just felt ridiculous and out of character and I’m just upset about it because they really did do a great job of building that relationship to a point where it felt like something had to happen. Although I read somewhere that if they got another season and they were both in it – he’d have wanted them to find their way to each other. So who really knows. But either way it’d have been much better to leave it open-ended rather for him to elope. Bc honestly?? it feels like that move Shelby did when she pretended to sleep with Caleb – that’s how ridiculous I found it. And I’m sure that wasn’t the intention on the writer’s part.

i mean – they addressed a lot of important issues in the season and overall, i did really like this latter half of the episodes (although hunter can be thanked for a lot of that and i think his character brought a lot to the show, regardless of the romantic subplot.) so i wouldn’t say it was for nothing. but after this i don’t think caleb and shelby are endgame – it’s clearly clay or someone new (which i really hope doesn’t happen bc however they do it, it’d probably just feel rushed and not meaningful – she needs time to be on her own for a while.) but yeah :/ i’m mad too. they could have done a lot more with it.
