after moving in you and niki felt that there was something missing from your house and that something was a cat
nikki was over the moon when you finally agreed to let her adopt one after weeks of her nagging you about it
when you drove her to the pet adoption centre she sang louder to the music from her playlist and peered out the window to see if you were there yet, all with a gleeful smile on her face
when you finally parked and stepped out of the car, niki grabbed your wrist and ran to the centre
she smiled at the receptionist as they directed you to where the cats were
when she first saw the cats on the carpet she looked like she was about to cry
she slowly crept over to them as not to scare them and outstretched her hand to a small ginger kitten which cradled its head into her hand happily
as you watched on as niki played with a cat toy, you felt a something nudge against your ankle
looking down you saw a cat with a sleek black coat rubbing its head against your leg which niki laughed
‘i think its likes you’ niki laughed as you shook your head
you reached down your hand scratched its head and smiled as it licked your hand
‘see your warming up to him, hold him in your arms i wanna take a picture’
niki smiled at the photo saying she would have to print it out
you handed the cat to niki who placed it one her lap stroking its fur
‘so which one do you want to take home?’
‘could we get them both’ niki looked up at you pleading
you thought for a moment and gestured for her to go over to the counter
as you talked to the cashier niki gathered all the extra things the cats would need
its was a large sum of money but it was worth it to see niki this happy
