Seeing Sophia on my feed (yay the Nautilus!!) reminded me - thank you both for the horsehair braid rants. I did Not Know. And now I do, and I *love* what it can do to my dress hems. Brilliant, even if I can't buy it in Boston. RIP Windsor Button probably.

honestly what even CAN you buy in person of specialized sewing supplies? especially if you want them to be Not Plastic?

god it's so annoying and tragic. they don't even have horsehair braid. or hem braid. I have to order my wool hem braid ONLINE. in a city

Not really, or nothing you can't google better than I can tell it, as I haven't done it before. Sources suggested putting them in a sunny window for several weeks, and that while you can cut big ones into several pieces, that's just more damaged surface where rot can enter if your ground is wet when you plant. Ours often is, so I mostly selected small potatoes to chit. I will cut the big ones, and let the cut edges dry out well before planting.

There's some russets in there that had been in my pantry for a while and started to sprout on their own, some red & yellow from the store, and some neat purple ones I got at the farmers' market. I'm hopeful about those doing especially well, since they should be good at this particular climate, while the others are from elsewhere. Idaho, I guess. The purple ones did start sprouting quicker than the red & yellow, too!

Tips - start with room temp butter. Beat smooth and add in any liquids/flavors. Add sugar gradually. It goes quickly that way.

Literally, I went to go take care of the chair issue in person, and the chair was on my damn porch. LIke, I was stuck until I could push it out of the way.

OH MAN. The whole “Creative Activities” building is full of beautiful quilts. Mom and I just limited what we took pictures of because otherwise we’d have taken 100 in just that building.
