This pic is an illustration from one of my favorite Tasertricks fics, “In the Service of Liars and Killers” by MildredJosephine. I’m not sure who created this illustration. Please let me know and I’ll give credit or take it down, whichever is preferred. I highly recommend this fic, but I should mention that this song post doesn’t really relate to the fic as much as it does to the (out of context) illustration.
Adonis, baby
Jumping frames in strobing light
Fingertips drip down my spine
Cruel desire
Danger in our consequence
You look my way and I lose my...
Hey, you want to rule the world?
Outlaw love, make you lose control
Hey, hey, boy, you got me like whoa, whoa
White hot, adrenaline, baby
In my veins, you got me praying
Whoa, whoa, whoa
My pretty blue lips begging, take me
I need you in my bloodstream
Hold me, break me
My breath is for holding, overdose me
I need you in my bloodstream
Hold me, break me, break me
Lucid reverence
Floating in your sacred sin
Need your fire against my skin
Cosmic violence
Chills dripping like acid rain
Keep coming back ’cause it's you I crave
Hey, you want to rule the world?
Desperado, take control
Hey, hey, boy, you got me like whoa, whoa
White hot, adrenaline, baby
In my veins, you got me praying
Whoa, whoa, whoa
My pretty blue lips begging, take me
I need you in my bloodstream
Hold me, break me
My breath is for holding, overdose me
I need you in my bloodstream
Hold me, break me, break me
Chills dripping like acid rain
Keep coming back ’cause it's you I crave
Danger in our consequence
Look my way and I lose my...
My pretty blue lips begging, take me
I need you in my bloodstream
Hold me, break me
My breath is for holding, overdose me
I need you in my bloodstream
Hold me, break me, break me
I need you in my bloodstream
Hold me, break me, break me

Planting roots doesn’t mean tying yourself down.
I think this is meant to sound encouraging, and I thank you for that :) But it's true that opening some doors (putting down roots) automatically closes others (increased freedom in travel, etc.). Come message me and tell me of your thoughts about it (in all your free time ^^;;;;;;;)!
Hey there LG. Just wanted to check and see how you were doing.
Personal junk below the cut
Thank you so much @mildredjosephine! It’s nice to know folks are out there thinking kind thoughts about us.
For those of you just tuning in, 2018 was really rough. My mom developed ALS, my dad passed away after a long fight with cancer, our beloved rescue greyhound Kitty also died due to cancer, and we sold our home to find a place that was more conducive to mom’s care. I know nobody was sad to see the year 2018 end, but over here at Chez LG we were giving it the middle finger on its way out the door. (Not really, that would be rude. But we were def happy it’s gone.)
We’re hanging in there okay. Mom is mostly able to get up & around still. She’s lost the use of one hand and her other is getting significantly weaker. She’s tired most days and sleeps a lot, but she’s able to move about on her own. She doesn’t have many friends in the area where we live, but we’ve been trying to help her get out and meet new people. She seems to enjoy connecting with her new Sunday School class at church, but it got out that she has ALS, and now she’s struggles with being viewed as “the sick person.” That’s hard, but she’s taking it with a much more positive attitude than I probably would. She’s definitely a “stiff upper lip” kind of gal, but cracks in her armor are showing, and that’s really hard for all of us, but mostly for mom. She’s always been the strong one, and generally apologizes for any display of weakness or unhappy emotions.
We’ve all had to make some adjustment, living together for the past few months, nobody moreso than my wife. We talked about how important it is for her to not feel like her entire identity is wrapped up in “caretaker,” just like mom has been fighting to maintain an identity other than “sick person.” She’s been taking care of mom, but also decided she wants to go back to graduate school. One masters isn’t enough for her, she’s got to get another. :D I couldn’t talk her into getting a PhD, (mainly because I wanted to annoy her by calling her ‘doctor’ for the rest of her life), but she really wants to add a masters in History to her masters in Library Science. She was worried she was going to miss the deadline for the fall semester, but we worked out a study/family schedule so she could focus on school. Time management is a new area for all of us.
I got a promotion at work in the past month or so. I’m now a manager. (For those of you that didn’t hate me for going to church, you can hate me for helping support the capitalist agenda of suppressing the proletariat or something. We all know that IT Security Nerds would help overthrow the yoke of the global elite if it weren’t for suits like me that thought herding cats sounded like a good career move.) It’s been an interesting switch, one I’m not sure I’m adapting to well, but I’m trying. I miss my consoles and my bash scripts and getting predictable responses from predictable datasets, but if I didn’t step up to the plate there’s always the chance that they hire some actual stuffed suit MBAgrad that sees a team like rungs on a ladder to step on to climb. We’ll see how it goes. I’ve tried to make it plain that home is my priority, and if these two things come into conflict the job is not going to be the one that wins. Everybody seemed okay with that decision. But outside of that, I’m really excited to have & work on building my own team.
I’m not just chasing that paper. I’m definitely in it to do the best job that I can, because it’s my career & my reputation on the line. But I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t looking at remodeling a bathroom in my house to ADA standards, or buying a van with a wheelchair lift in it, or just sending mom on a decent vacation for once in her &%$*ing life. Sadly all of this has cost me game time, and I’ve had to cancel my Shadowrun campaign that I was running. Our backup GM also cancelled the backup SR campaign we tried to do. And then I tried for almost 2 months to start a Solomon Kane “30 Years War” type monster hunter campaign, but that turned out to be a non-starter. So now I’ve got all this creative energy that’s just not going anywhere because I don’t have the time to do anything with it. Nothing’s scratching that RPG itch right now, outside of Tumblr and this blog. And that’s kind of sad, but, priorities are important.
Anyways, this already too long, but I appreciate the opportunity to get personal things off my chest, and it’s nice to know that there are folks remembering the person behind the blog, and that thoughts and prayers are aimed in our direction. Please don’t stop. We definitely need them.
Thank you, everyone, for your compassion and encouragement. It's kind of beyond me to describe that initial hurt, but it’s not beyond me to endure it. Food and friendship help. In the space of about tree months I lost about... yikes, 17 pounds that I had neither intended nor needed to lose. Tonight I ate ice cream for dinner and I currently have home made bread slathered in beef fat and cheese in the oven. I’ve also spent a lot of time in prayer and meditation for perspective. We’re gonna make it, friends. We all are.
Also, thanks for the compliments on my hair! I looooove it. It’s so fun and bouncy. It hasn’t been this short in... over a decade? Wow, loooove it!
Here’s to food and friends~!

Sorry to hear that. You’ll come back stronger in April! Also your new haircut is VERY cute.
That’s the plan. I’ve already had people reaching out and willing to help.

Man I'm sorry to hear that. It's good that you're taking some time of, and that you get a second shot relatively soon :)
Rest is hard to think of... because it’s been so intense for so long that rest seems counterproductive. But rest! Good!

I'm sorry about your test, but your hair is glorious, and no one can say otherwise.
Thank you XD. I am really fond of it . As for the test, everything is a test. It will be OK.

*hugs* I’m so sorry hon. Don’t forget how strong you are though - this is just one small setback. You’ll make it where you need to be. ❤️
Thanks, A. Is it weird that I never think of myself as strong? I just do. But you’re right. We’re going to make it.

Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear that. Good luck on your continued studying! Nice hair cut too xD
Thanks lady :) I’m gonna enjoy the heck out of this hair. I’m carrying a pick everywhere.
