Happy birthday, Nikki!

Kimi was inspecting the dress she made Nikki for her birthday, it was a simple light pink, full length ball gown. She had been working on it for two months, the rest of the outfit had been a breeze, but the dress...Never seemed quite right. Nikki would be there in twenty-two hours so that they could get ready for her party, and Kimi, like with the other dresses, wasn’t sure if she liked it. It seemed far to close to what she had made Nikki last year, she wanted it to be unique.

She sighed and started looking through her other designs to see if she could find some inspiration to make the dress more extravagant without being too over the top.

“She will love whatever you make her,” Joe said, standing in the doorway. “There is no sense in overworking yourself.”

“Hm...I know. I just want this to be perfect for her.” Kimi replied, picking up one of the designs and holding it up to the dress. She squinted at it before turning to Joe. “What do you think?”

Joe walked up and stood beside her. “Perhaps the dress should be shorter?”

Kimi thought it over, placing the design back down on her desk.”Maybe...thank you, Mr.Joe.”

They said their goodnights, and Joe left Lady Kimi alone to work.

It was six in the morning by the time Kimi passed out at her work desk, and two in the afternoon when she woke up again. She sat up and stretched, opening her eyes, she immediately spotted a familiar pink haired girl, followed by a sweet voice.

“Kimi? Are you okay?” Nikki asked, placing her hand on Kimi’s shoulder.

‘Ah, Nikki, Momo...What time is it? You aren’t supposed to be here until four.” Kimi stood up and looked over at the unfinished mess-er, dress. She grimaced.

“I know but Joe said you were up all night working on my dress, I wanted to see if you needed any help...” She trailed off, noticing the ‘dress’ that Kimi had finished. “Is that it? It looks...Different!” Nikki said, Kimi just sighed and walked over too it.

It was no longer too long, rather too short, and, in an attempt to fix it, there was ribbon, ruffles, lace, and...feathers...Kimi would have screamed had Nikki not been there.

“I’m sorry, Nikki. I tried to fix the dress, but it...I just ended up ruining it even more...” Nikki frowned and walked behind Kimi, hugging her.

“Thank you, Kimi...” Kimi blushed before moving out of the hug to look up at the taller of the two.

“For what? I messed up the dress.”

“For making me a suit, the dress didn’t turn out...Exactly as planned, but you tried! And I’ll still for it to the party.”

“I would never make you do that.” Nikki put her hand over heart and pretended to sigh in relief.

“And here I was prepared to lose all my dignity for the sake of our relationship!” Kimi and Nikki laughed, Kimi’s laugh dying out sooner than Nikki’s as she turned back to the dress.

“What are we going to do about your dress? We only have three and a half hours before we have to be at the party.”

“Do you have any other dresses?”

“One, but it might need some adjustments to match the accessories.” Kimi showed Nikki a gorgeous princess-type dress. Nikki looked at it in awe.

“What’s wrong with this one? It is beautiful!” Kimi sighed.

“It was supposed to be for the Christmas play,” Nikki nodded, but before she could say anything, Kimi continued, ”But, your birthday means more to me than a silly play. So you can wear this one, and I’ll figure something else out for it.”

“Are you sure it’s okay? I don’t want you to work harder because of me.” Kimi nodded.

“Yes, I’m sure. Now, will you help me with the adjustments? It should only need a few things.”

Nikki smiled. “Of course!” She said cheerfully.

They were twenty minutes late to the party, but it was worth it. Nikki looked like a princess, wearing a gorgeous light pink -almost white- ball gown with rose themed accessories. Kimi was wearing a white tux with a light pink tie and a black ribbon tying her hair back.

They were greeted by an excited Momo and Yoko, they had been in charge of decorating and greeting the guests as they arrived. Momo, who had been recording everything, complimented Nikki.

Nikki thanked Momo and they all made their way into the room.

Eventually. Nikki had pulled Kimi over to dance floor as a slow song began to play.

Nikki placed her head on top of her short girlfriend, wrapping her arm around her waist as Kimi’s went around her neck. “Thank you for making this day special...”

Nikki leaned down and gently kissed Kimi. Kimi smiled, “Happy birthday, Nikki...”
